Day 8 - Part 1
Day 8, Saturday, June 19th, was our last full-day. Our last park day. And nearly the last day to eat all of the breakfast items that Id included in our grocery delivery. So, we started this day off with a big, in-suite breakfast. And, since wed been going full-throttle for several days straight, we finally decided to ease into this day a little bit.
I was up and dressed by 8 oclock, which is sleeping in when Disney is concerned. I ventured out into the darkened living room and kitchen area and found this Mickeyfied harbinger of impending doom, which had been slid under the door. It was our Magical Express envelope, with the luggage tags that wed need for tomorrows flight.
I started to work, first making coffee, and then bacon and eggs. After a while, the smell of breakfast food and the occasional additional light being turned on finally roused the kids. Still, we took our time getting ready to hit the parks. Over breakfast we decided that wed re-do Epcot today, particularly the World Showcase, since both Judy and Lauren were disappointed that theyd missed it. And that was another reason why we could take our time getting ready, since the World Showcase opens later than Future World.
We didnt leave the suite until almost 10:30. On our way out, I stopped at the Kidani library and went out onto the balcony to take another series of pictures to make a stitched panorama. This is the savanna and the animal viewing area outside of Sanaa. Its made up of 20 photos.
We caught a bus quickly (no more of the bad bus mojo that had plagued us the night before) and arrived at Epcot at 11am. As we entered the park, we saw a Photopass photographer so stopped for a few pictures. Here are a couple with my camera.
Ah yes, the sun was mighty bright that day.

I think James is leaning back in an attempt to shade his eyes. And Im so glad we did laundry so that he could wear that M*A*S*H shirt again. Did I tell you in the earlier chapters that that shirt was actually mine, once upon a time? Yep, my mom found it and thought hed enjoy wearing something that used to be mine. But I think he likes it not because it was mine, but because its Army-related
he loves wearing camouflage.
Lauren needs to learn the art of the reverse blink, like I employ. Its where you keep your eyes kind of closed until the photographer is about to take a picture, then open them for the second that the pictures being taken. (Of course it helps if the photographer gives you a verbal warning.) I think she tries to hold them open the whole time hes framing the shot, and then by the time he takes the picture she just cant hold them open any longer.
And here are the Photopass pictures.
After our little photo session, we took a few more steps and arrived at Spaceship Earth and decided to go on. Im not sure why, because it went against our whole touring plan, which was to tackle the World Showcase. Also, Ive always thought it was a no no to do it first because its the first ride people see when they come into the park and so its always busy in the morning. But I guess we just realized that we had no idea when else we could do it, so we got in line. And it was quite a line -- it snaked around the left side of the ball, then snaked around the right side, and finally went in.
And it was sooo hot!
If we had shade and the line moved on, Id try to hang back for as long as I could before venturing out into the sun. But fortunately, the line did move quickly.
My pictures of the scenes on the ride didnt turn out very well, but even though its blurry I have to include a picture of my favorite lady on Spaceship Earth.
At the point where your car turns around and you back down a tunnel of lights, I got this wild light photo. It was an accident really -- I didnt expect that the shutter would stay open for 5 seconds like it did.
I decided to make a goofy face for my picture and I guess that means that my future is going to be, well, strange.
Do you dare take a closer look?
Oh my.
Heres Marlene and Lauren, parked in the Atlantic Ocean.
The rest of us were in the Pacific.
Dont ever get the bends. It aint pretty.
Lauren and Marlene are looking really snazzy in their futures?
I guess it's okay to wear a beret and argyle together in the future....but I wouldn't do it now.
Anyway, we really liked the ride and were glad we went on it. We hadnt been on it since theyd done the refurbishments and we thought they did a really nice job.
We got in line and e-mailed our futures to ourselves. Then we had to peel James away from the interactive games so that we could continue on to the World Showcase.
Up next: I see London, I see France
