Most Efficient Car Rental Near Port

Hi. I may be renting a car and driving to the terminal instead of using happy Limo or some similar service. What sort of experiences have ppl had? I think budget is the cheapest - but I want the one that is efficient so I don't waste time before going to port. Any advice/experience is most appreciated.

We used Budget when we got off the Magic on 9/11 . Pickup was speedy (the Van just pulled into the lot), and we got our car in about 5 mins. Price was good too - booked through the internet.

We have used both Avis and Budget....service and convenience are just about equal. Both are pretty close to the port with shuttle service.

I book with which ever one is having the best deat at the time. I also look for rental car codes I can use at www.mousesavers.com and I book online at Avis/Budget websites.

I make two one-way rentals. One from the airport to the port and one from the port back to the airport.

I did find last Saturday that the Budget and Avis shuttle lines were pretty long...we opted to take a taxi to the Budget location but none were readily available. The CM in the parking lot told us taxis do come on their own but it was about 15 minutes until one showed up. Next time I will have a list of local taxi numbers in my phone to call for a taxi.

We have used Budget a few times and have been pleased with them. Prompt shuttles, and all but one time we were upgraded from compact to a larger vehicle (Ford Taurus).
Avis seems to have a longer line for its shuttle.
