Of the non- disney Orlando area hotels, does anyone know which one has the most awesome pool?

Depending on the ages of you kids (if any) HIFS is supposed to have a really cool pool. zero depth entry, "water park type stuff" but no slide. Hope this helps.

Try the website for the Caribe Royale (www.cariberoyale.com). You can also use that pool if you stay next door at their sister property the Buena Vista Suites (although they don't advertise that fact). Also, Ron Jon (timeshare resort) has something called the Liki Tiki Lagoon that is really nice but mainly for kids 12 and under probably.

You've pretty much covered all the best non-Disney bases here. HIFS, Caribe Royale, Sheraton Safari and Ron Jon's Resort all feature above-average pool areas. Another very good one is Marriott's Orlando World center, which does have a slide and is a BIG pool, too!

We've stayed at two of those - HIFS and Marriott O. World Center. They are like apples and oranges but both great in their own way. Personally, I was "wowed" by the MOWC -- huge with a cascading water fall and a slide; luxurious and never felt crowded. HIFS is much more like a water park pool to appeal to younger kids. Fun with squirty animals, floats to rent, and TONS of babies and toddlers in the zero depth area. Definitely felt crowded at times, though, and as mentioned before, no slide. That said, our next trip includes HIFS because for the age of our kids, FUN rules over luxury.
