Before voting, I guessed it would be Sandra Lee. Then I looked at the poll and she was tied for #1.....

I was on the foodtv site and I noticed that people trash her recipes all the time, but when you really read into it, it seems like they have an agenda to trash HER.

I voted Paula Deen.

It's close, but I voted for Paul Deen. Her schtick is just too "affected" and her sons are a real piece of work. On one of their shows they asked someone (about the product they were making) "Who buys these?", the answer was "people in New York or New Jersey". They said, "oh the folks in "Yankeeville" huh? They'll buy anything". Whay jerks! But Rachel Ray is a close second.

I like most of the others. BTW, Giada speaks the way she does because she is actually Italian and English is not her first language.

It still isn't pronounced "spageeti".

Some of these tv cooks almost act as if they invented food. Lidia Bastianich, who is a good cook and not on the list, once said "you couldn't get reggiano-parmagianno in this country when she first came here". Lidia Bastianich came here in the 1960's. Puhleeze! The Italians started immigrating to the US in the 1890's. Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin all ate reggiano-parmagiano. It was a staple in every Italian grocery store and every Italian household where I grew up. But, Lidia couldn't find it. I actually think they start to believe their own BS. :lmao:

I would tend to agree with this if it wasn't the fact that she only pronounces culinary terms in that affected accent. Man, I just can't stand her.

I told DH that Sandra Lee is winning on the DIS in a contest for the most annoying Food Network Personality. He says we're all just jealous! Can you believe that?! (He tunes in to get a look at her sweaters!) :bitelip:

You're probably right. I can tolerate her affected accent better than I can Paul Deen's though.

Emeril Lagasse and Rachel Ray. Don't like either one.

Ugg.. Mario I guess. He is a good cook but a pompas you know what. I am reading "Heat" right now:)

Thanks for reminding me. I meant to order that book when it came out--the reviews were great, then forgot about it. I'm off to Amazon to order Heat and the new updated edition of Kitchen Confidentials.

My vote was for Sandra Lee. Seriously, who out there puts those "tablescapes" together? If I walked into a party at a friend's house that was dolled up like that you'd have to pick me up off the floor from laughing too hard. :rotfl:
I watch her for pure entertainment value. :happytv: You can't possibly make anything that she does because she doesn't even tell you measurements. She pours stuff together and says "now add this much of this and that much of that." How much was it?!
And her decor that MATCHES what she makes? Even her blender is usually the same color! Thats just silly.

I don't think its right to judge others on their appearence alone but hey, to each their own. :sad2:

I voted for Nigella because I think that she bites - just like her show Nigella Bites!

P.S. As a transplanted southerner, Paula Deen is not effected. There are quite a few of us who speak with a heavy accent. I have met Paula several times, not only at her restaurant, but also out in the streets and at book signings. She is truly a warm and wonderful lady. She goes out of her way to help others and I love to watch her because listening to her makes me feel like I'm home.

I went to high school in Manhattan with Lidia Bastianich's daughter. She was a bit younger- nice girl. Also went to school with 2 of the Maccioni (Le Cirque) kids. I think Lidia's son has a new restaurant with Mario B. DH and I met Giada during the 50th anniversary at WDW.

I had to choose Sandra Lee. I just don't find her food very interesting at all.
I love Rachel Ray, Alton Brown and Emeril. Although I must admit I have been tired a bit of all 3 since they are all overexposed on the Food Network.

Now, I may be in the minority here, but I do not care for Paula Dean. I'm from Savannah, and very few people there have such a thick heavy accent that she has. I really think she plays it up a bit. Also, I watched her special with Jimmy Carter and I swear she was coming on to him right in front of Rosalyn. :sad2: I felt so bad for her. Even my DH noticed..and usually that stuff goes right over his head.

DH and I noticed this as well. Mrs. Carter didn't *appear* to be very happy about the entire thing if you ask me.

I would have to say right now that award for most annoying celebrity chef goes to Rachael Ray with Wolfgang Puck & Giada coming in at a close second and third for me.

In our house we absolutely love Alton Brown & Paula Deen.

Sandra Lee got my vote. I watch cooking shows for entertainment & knowledge. Mixing powdered salad dressing packets into various things is not cooking IMHO! I've only watched a few minutes of a few of her shows, but nothing has looked even remotely appetizing.

RR bugged me at first, but I got used to her - the food is good.
Can't stand Emeril either.

As for the 5 people (so far) who voted Tyler Florence - what were you THINKING??? He can come to my house and cook for me anytime :thumbsup2 !

They all annoy me because I hate to cook.

Sandra Lee, with her "out there" presentation of "the girls," her coordinating outfit and kitchen, her wispy sleeves that drag through the food, her "tablescapes," and her Sandra's cocktail time are FAR MORE ANNOYING than Rachael Ray -- and your poll (at this time) is bearing that out.

I really don't find Giada annoying at all and am surprised that so many do.

Giada got my vote.. how can you be an Italian chef and be that skinny? I guess we're not that lucky in my family ;) And she acts so uppity about being Italian... There's a Proud Italian and then there's just an Obnoxious Snob Italian and she is definitely the latter.

Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee have their quirks, but I like them for the most part...

Yeah. He does seem like a tool. Especially his appearance as guest judge on this season's Top Chef. But then I find most of the guest judges (along with Gail Simmons) to be a bit on the prickly side.

Love Anthony Bourdain, though!

I love Anthony Bourdain!!!!!! Hes too funny!
