Mosquitos

I know this seems like a silly question, but...

My DS4 developed a reaction to mosquito bites last summer. The first time it happened, I thought he'd been stung by a bee, the swelling was just unbelievable. We tried to keep him inside during prime feeding hours after that, but he still got hit pretty hard in Maine in September.

We are planning a trip to Disney in either September or November, and I'm wondering how the nasty little buggers are then. I'm guessing they won't have slowed down much in September, but are they still bad by November? We've only gone in January before, and I've never noticed them before. We'd kind of like to try out the water parks though, which is why we were thinking of a different time of year.

Mosquitoes are an all year animal in FL. I don't usually have much of a problem in the parks, but outside the parks at night it has been an issue.

I also blow up like a balloon when I get bit. Don't even need to scratch. I carry the Benedryl stick in my bag for when I get bit. It helps to bring down the swelling. You'ld think with all the antihistamine I take for my allergies that I wouldn't react to the bites, but I still do.

We have gone in November a few years in a row. Before our trip I read a lot about taking repellent. I wasn't a believer. Never had we had a problem in November. Not one bite, not one slap! Never even felt them. Wow...was this past November completely different. They were horrible even in the parks! Was biten several times. Sure wished I had listened! Hopefully this was just an off year. Not sure if this will help at all but one of the CM told me to have the kids stay away from eating bananas!

We are going to try the Off sunscreen with insect repellant built in. I hope it works! We have a lot of mosquitos here in Georgia, and I keep Caladryl in my master bath to put on my bites every night during the summer. I will transfer some to a travel sized bottle to take during our trip. It really cuts down on the itching!
