Mosquitos?

I was wondering if mosquitos are an issue at night or anytime in the parks for that matter. I would think in an environment that humid, they would be everywhere, but I've never seen anyone mention bringing bug spray or having a problem with them. Should we bring bug spray for the fireworks? The less stuff to put on a hot sticky body the better, but want to have it if we need it!

Thanks!

I went to Disney in April and in December and I never had to spray the kids or myself with bug spray... I've stayed at OKW in Dec and I saw one in the bathroom... that was it... and I've stayed for fireworks in MK and Epcot an even went by Boat to DTD at dusk and did not notice any... maybe it was just the time of year that they are not out... but I've read in other places that at Wildernes Lodge it was bad for mosquitos... :confused3

Disney probably treats the land in the parks and resorts. I hardly ever get bitten, and I'm a mosquito magnet. And if I do, it's only one bite, not 5 like I get back at home.

We brought & used spray to the FW campfire last year. That's the only place I recall mosquitos daring to show up.

FYI

I have two tried and true tips for bites - table salt and toothpaste. Just rub either of these on the bite and the itching usually stops almost instantly.

Wow! Thanks for the replies and tips. I get the most itchy bites around my feet and ankles and will definitely try the toothpaste and/or salt!

Thanks again!

hi i am named mozzman for my ability to mow down those little blighters i can be hired for $3000 a day to follow you round :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :lmao:

We usually go in Sept. and last time I got bitten quite a bit. I am a mosquito magnet though. You can buy the wipes of bug repellent now that are small and then just put it on at dusk.

Try rubbing any brand deodorant on the bites, it will take away the itch. I tried it and it really does work!

I AM THE MOSQUITO MAGNET!!!! If I am with you they won't bother you.

Since I will not be following you around, bring the bug spray. Come armed and tell them you are prepared to use it. They take no prisioners, so why should you. Nobody knows our bugs better than we Floridians do.

My advice, spray and spray often. The humidity has been awful and WDW is no different than any other part of the state. They do not cover Disney with a bug-proof shield. No such thing. Use your common sense and you will be fine. Just remember, they really do exist and their next target is......

I live in New Jersey which is also swampy and humid, and I am presently covered with about 20 of the itchy, little bites. However, I have never noticed any mosquitos in WDW, and as a matter of fact, asked a CM about it last time. He told me that WDW basically sprays everything late at night while you are sleeping!

I was eaten alive at Fantasmic on my last visit. I am bringing bug spray this time!

While I was eaten alive at the minigolf across from the Dolphin 3 years ago, and last year at the Poly
...we are just back from 10 days at the Poly with no bites on any of us (8 people) :confused3 Must be the new "Skintastic" ("the light floral scent drives away bugs, not people" :rotfl2: - honest ad!)

oh, and if mozzman can't go, I'd be happy to follow you around with a bottle for $1500/day +tax :teeth:

I seem to be a mosquito magnet, but I rarely have problems at WDW. The most problems I've had were at night waiting for fireworks near the Crystal Palace. There is the pond between the Crystal Palace and the castle, and this no doubt is one place you are most likely to encounter mosquitos at.

Same thing for Fantasmic, which has a large amt of water in front of the stage. Though I've not had a problem there, yet...

OMG! I didn't even think of mosquitos. Will we have to worry about them in December. The temps there can be as warm as early summer in Virginia and I know we have mosquitos in the early summer so it only makes sense that they would like the same temps in FL. Should we carry bug spray with us for our trip in Dec. especially at night?

We were there in Nov and never saw any mosquitos...although for late nights at the parks we did spray just in case...my DS is a big mosquito magnet and he even commented on how there were no bites..hopefully we will have the same luck this year :)
