mosquitoes

I just got the email from Disney warning about Zika virus. We are cruising in April to Bahamas. Are mosquitoes abundant then/there?

Here is the link to the CDC's information page. There have been 21 Zika cases in Florida but all have been travel related. The travel warning that the CDC has issued does include the Caribbean but not the Bahamas. As it does in Florida, it really depends on the weather. If it's rained a lot and there's no breez the mosquitos are worse. It's always best to take precautions by using bug spray or a sunscreen that includes a mosquito repellent (however I've not done that on our 2 cruises).

thanks....I'm not overly concerned, I have read the information from the CDC, I really just wondered if mosquitoes were a real problem there! I live in NH and I would dare say they are worse here than anywhere!!

I received the same email for our April cruise. Wasn't aware the warning did not include the Bahamas. I should read up more. Since we are going from the Hyatt to the ship and back, not terribly worried. Sounds like bug spray will do the job. I have never had trouble with bug bites in all my trips to Florida like I have with bites from mosquitoes in Massachusetts. Same as trishypoo. Some days you need a suit of armour-they bite right through the clothes!
