Mosquitoes at Disney World

Wondering whether any locals or people who have been to disney in late April can tell me whether mosquitoes are a problem. We live in Canada and the mosquito repellants have not come out yet so can't seem to find any yet. If required, any recommendations for where to get some close to the theme parks or at the airport?

Thanks,

ML

Honestly, I dont recall ever having a problem with mosquitos at Disney. I think they are pretty vigilent about their spraying.

We just returned and didn't have any issues down there with bugs.
I did read somewhere that dryer sheets work as a repellent. The person who suggested it was a wedding planner and told her brides to use bounce sheets. She swore by this method. I haven't tried this though.
Our girls did get some sort of rash, I think from the pool. So it was helpful to have Benadryll (SP) with us.

Have a great trip.

I can't remember ever having a problem with the little devils, not even at Ft Wilderness. Have a great time!

In all of our trips, I never remember being bit by a mosquito once. Whatever they spray must really work:goodvibes

Me and my DD (9) are useually plagued by the little buggers. We get ate up every time we go outside. They don't bother DH, DS (2), or DD (7).
But, with that said, Neither me or DD ever got bit while we were at Disney. I don't recall seeing any bugs at all the week we were there in June. I wish I had whatever they spray around there, on my yard!!!!!!!:cool1:

Its actually kind of odd, but Disney must do some serious pest control b/c I've never been bitten there. I grew up in Florida and now live here again and those little terrors are usually awful, but not at Disney for whatever reason. We don't even wear the spray. Wish they'd come spray up here in my part of Florida!

I am a mosquito magnet and I can't recall ever having a problem with them at WDW.

well, I guess I'm the oddball... it was in September, not April, so maybe that's the difference, but I DID get bit at Fantasmic one night. I was sure to use repellent wipes the rest of the evenings that trip.

Good tip about the dryer sheets though! :thumbsup2

We have never ever been bothered by mosquitos, even in the wetest months,
at Disney. They do a great job, taking care of the problem.
Now other parts of the Orlando area as well as Fla. Mosquitos can be very nasty to say the least. We always spray ourselfs with Deet which I have found works pretty good.

Every year when at WDW, we comment on how we never see any bugs, crawling or flying. It's great to not have to worry about them. I dread going to my cottage and having to cover myself in bug spray or risk being eaten alive!
Last spring I was watching a local television show that was filming at Epcot and they were talking to the castmembers that maintain all the gardens.
The "Bug Lady" said that WDW uses all natural pesticides and are quite vigilant at keeping the bugs at bay. Now if only I could get her to come to my cottage!
