OK - who, other than me, owns a set of copper mugs so you can make these bad boys on a hot summer day?!

:)

I don't have copper mugs, but I love a good Moscow Mule. A Dar and Stormy is another great one.

Nothing makes me angrier than when somewhere has a Moscow mule on the menu but fails to disclose that they use ginger ale. It's an insult!

I also have a bottle of Gosslings for D&S. Ginger beer and hot days are a great match.

My brother & his wife introduced us to these last summer. Sooooo refreshing. Sadly, DH & I would never get enough use out of them at our own house. So, whenever we go to my brother's, I bring the ginger beer & he whips them up for us. Yum!

Never had heard of a dark and stormy. Last year we were going to Bermuda and saw a video on Amazon Prime on Bermuda and they mentioned the dark & stormy was the drink of Bermuda, along with the rum swizzle. Ordered a dark & stormy, none of us cared for it. Believe it was the ginger beer. DS23 has a bottle of Goslings but not sure what he mixes it with. At any rate, have seen the Dark & stormy now at restaurants around here. DS23 saw a pre made Dark & stormy in a can at the liquor store.

I gave my DH a homemade Moscow Mule set for Christmas a couple of years ago. I included 4 copper mugs, limes, bottles of ginger beer, and a bottle of vodka. We had had them on the El Tovar porch at the Grand Canyon that summer. We mixed up a batch and both hated them! They were waaaay too spicy! Maybe we used too much ginger beer or the wrong brand of ginger beer (Goya brand).

DD got a copper mug set for Moscow Mules for Christmas. I, personally, prefer a good Dark and Stormy!!

We're trying to sell the house and move, so I have been weeding through old boxes in the attic. Recently found a set of 6 copper mugs that DH had before we met! Now I just need to buy the ingredients.....

Ginger beer + lime + alcohol = best drinks ever. Moscow Mule, Kentucky Mule, Dark & Stormy, Nor'easter, all good!

I just had my first Moscow mule yesterday.

I live in TX but am visiting family in Idaho. My sil called it a "moss-cow" mule.

There's a town, Moscow Idaho(pronounced "moss cow") so I thought it was a local made-up drink. It took me awhile to realize that it was "Moscow" Russia (vodka)

Anyway never heard of it, can't wait to make one for friends back home!

Bought a set of copper mugs around Christmas time when we were hosting a holiday party. Have to admit, aside from parties like that, it's unlikely we'll make a lot of Moscow Mules otherwise. We just don't make a lot of cocktails at home on a regular basis. I'm more likely to grab a beer than make a mixed drink.

Most people will pronounce the name of either city the same. Either Mos-cow or Mos-co.

yep love me some Dark and Stormy's. The Moscow Mules I can do without. Maybe they would taste different in a regular glass. Maybe its my brain overriding my tast buds, but when I drink them they have a tinny taste.

That rock and roll music was a fad, too. Pretty sure the Mule has been around longer. :)
That's kind of my point. The drink has been around since the 40s. The sudden popularity (as evidenced by this thread) and the copper mugs in every bar, that's the fad part. Hey it's a good drink. I prefer a Dark and Stormy myself. I'm just not going to rush out and buy copper mugs!
