Moscato Gaierhof wine at Palo

Our waiter at Palo recommended the Moscato to us to have with our meals when we were looking for a light, sweet wine. I think you should just drink what you like, when you like it! Our waitress at Victoria & Albert's recommended the Banfi Rosa Regale (also available by the glass in the wine shop in the Italy Pavilion) to go with our hot and cold app. courses -- FANTISTIC, and also more of a sweet dessert wine (though a sparkling red)!

Married@wdw, I think you are right! I am going to give it a try and order the Moscato! I'll try a glass...so if I don't like it, I will only be out only $8.50!

Has anyone actually ordered Moscato during dinner...or is it bad etiquette? It IS listed as a dessert wine? I love most Reisling wines and want to know how it compares (in sweetness)?

Our wonderful assistant server recommended this wine as a complement to our dinners on our last DCL and we got hooked also. I never developed a taste for dry wine, but love a late harvest Reisling, this is fairly similar to that on the sweetness scale.

How about that Fairy tale Cuvee?...is that too dry? I hate dry wines!(I'm a light weight)

I've not actually tried the Fairy Tale Cuvee (which is champagne), but it is labelled as a "Brut" wine which means it would be drier. I've tried several different champagnes over the years as well and for some reason I like Asti Spumante better than some of the more expensive champagnes I've tried. :)

I do enjoy drier wines when eating certain foods as well too.

My husband orders Moscato for dinner on DCL and at restaurants all the time. He even jokes with the waiters that he knows it's a dessert wine but that he likes sweet wine with his meals. So far, we haven't been kicked out of anywhere for our breach of wine etiquette!

Thank you! I had been trying to remember what this wine was called! I tried it during the wine tasting in Italy at Epcot and loved it. We bought a bottle to bring home and I meant to save the bottle so I could remember what it was. I must have thrown it away and then I couldn't remember it. I'm sure it must be the same one - the way you described it (sparkling red).
Now I know what it is again! :wave2:

Moscato is my favorite as well, and believe it or not, Sutter Home Vineyards produces a 1.5 litre of Moscato that sells for less than $10 in wine and liquor stores in the Baltimore area.

I am not a wine expert, but it tastes as good as any other brands I have sampled, including the one served in Palo's.

Good luck in your search!

Just returned from our 4 day cruise aboard the Wonder! While I didn't have a chance to sample Moscato in Palo, I did get the opportunity to purchase a whole bottle to take home! I'll be sampling my first taste of Gaierhof Moscato for Thanksgiving! The Manager at Palo said they only had 2 bottles on board! So, I guess this wine has been phased out!

The Gaierhof Moscato is hard to find in the states, but it is alive and well on the Magic (just had a bottle 2 weeks ago on the ship.) I had been told (on these boards) that the wine was no longer offered on the ship, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was indeed available.

The Rosa Regale (sparkling wine) was very good also. It has a raspberry flavor to it.

;) When we returned from our cruise, I went out and purchased 2 bottles of the Rosa Regale! It's so yummy!!!

I also tried the Conundrum and Banfi on board! Loved them both!

My wife and I had the Gaierhof Muscato at Palo on our last cruise and really enjoyed it. I'm trying to find it locally but not having any luck.

Moscato in general is a very sweet pleasant wine. One of our favorites.

I'd just recommend avoiding the "Barefoot" brand.

We too love the Gaierhof Moscato at Palo and have tried without luck to purchase on land. About a year ago we found a substitute we are very happy with at Sam's Club. Bevlamo Moscato D'Asti, product from same area of Italy as Gaierhof. Cost: $11.86 per bottle (750 Ml).

OK -- so my husband and I had this amazing wine at our anniversary Palo dinner in January. We're not regular wine drinkers, but this was sweet and yummy! LOVED the stuff!

I do know they also have it at Le Cellier & Narcoossee's -- we'll be visiting those in May!

Now that we're home, I've been trying to find it with out much luck. If any of you are fans of the wine, have you had any luck finding places that carry it?

Not by any means a wine expert here, so could be shooting off a wee bit, but I have seen moscato in Olive garden. Not sure if you moscato Gaierhof or not. I remember this because, I hate dry wine and I thought this one was a OK because of its sweetness.
