morning walk location and rising early?

I'll be with a large family group on our upcoming cruise. We'd like to have a designated place to meet each morning for walking. None of us has been on the ship before. Where is a good, very specific, place to meet up?

Plus, I've heard the staterooms are very dark. Are they still very dark in the mornings about 6:30 or 7? Is it difficult to rise early? (I don't to wake my kids so a wake up call is probably out. )

I loved the early mornings on the ship. I was up each morning by about 6am. If you like your coffee, a great spot to meet is the deck 9 beverage station. You can grab a drink and then go to deck 4 for a very nice morning walk.

Oh, yes it was pretty dark in the stateroom with the curtains closed. We brought along a plug in night light that worked great. I have a quiet alarm on my watch that I can use, but I usually just woke up on my own.

You could meet on Deck 4, inside, at the Atrium, on the starboard (right, when facing forward) side.

Then, when you're all there, head out to the Promenade Deck (Deck 4, outside) for your walk. Three laps are one mile.

I always get up before sunrise, go to deck 9 for coffee then up to deck 10 to watch the sunrise then walk around deck 10. It is the greatest time and I never grow weary of seeing the sun come up even after 4 cruises

Thanks for the information everyone and Werner, thanks for the pictures.

I second the drink station as an excellent place to meet. On our cruise it was deserted early in the morning; you can get coffee or whatever, and there are plenty of tables there where you can watch the ocean go by while waiting for the rest of your party.

Then, given nice weather, go up to deck 10 for your morning walk, if not then down to deck 4.

The tables next to the drink station are behind plexiglass, so you have the view yet are protected from any weather. Yet they're open to the pool area so you feel very outdoors.

okay, dumb questions time.

So are decks 10 and 4 enclosed? Partially enclosed? Have overhang with open sides?

Are these the only two decks to really "walk"

Does deck 10 have plexiglass type railings? Would this be a good spot to sit and watch the sunrise/sunset?

Deck 10 is not enclosed. The railings have plexiglass and are see through. You have incredible views from there. Deck 4 has over hangs and open sides and is enclosed in certain areas. To walk as suggested for exercise deck 4 is the place to be. Deck 10 may have some obstacles (chairs, etc) in the way as well as some obstructions to go around. but it is great to walk around. We especially enjoyed walking up there in the evening and night time.

Deck 4 is best for Walking or Jogging. Deck 10 is wonderful for strolling.

Also, Deck 4 is covered so you can walk if it's not perfect weather.

I found the room incredibly light in the morning! However we sleep in total darkness (wood shutters) at home so any light is too bright.

One night dh and I took the couch/bunk combo and let the kids sleep on the bed so we could close the curtain and hoped they'd sleep longer (they rise at first light it seems). Helped us get about 30 minutes extra, but if you wake with daylight (and you have an outside cabin), it's light early.

Side note: you can use hair clips to help keep the curtains closed
