Morning Sickness

We leave in a couple of days and DD is 2 months pregnant and feeling very sick. Not found anything that helps but has tried the normal. ( dry toast, crackers). Any ideas??

Ginger can work--ginger ale, ginger snaps--but you MUST get it in a natural foods market or the natural foods section of your store. Ginger items in the regular stores are made with artificial ginger.

I also used sea sickness bands.

I suffered 5 months so it was all about management and avoiding things that would set it off. So be very careful of "smelly" areas on your trip--what may smell good to you, could send your DD to the bathroom. Have her review where you plan on eating and see if anything could be a potential problem and perhaps try to make different arrangements.

ETA: I tried the anti-nausea pills and acupuncture therapy---the anti-nasuea pills worked for 1 day and then I started losing those...and the acupuncture--worked for a couple of days--then I started getting sick immediately after each session and my condition no longer improved after that point.

First of all, PLEASE do not suggest that she stop taking her vitamins without getting her Dr's okay - those vitamins are VERY important, especially during the early stages of pregnancy. That being said, I found that they upset my stomach less if I took them at night, rather than earlier in the day.

I actually had to stop taking mine. It did come with finger pointing from the midwife--but if you are throwing them up and not actually keeping them down--you really aren't taking them anyway.

I did switch to a vitamin with a non-chalky coating. But then they changed the pill. Pharmacist says they didn't and I insisted they changed the coating. I still don't think he believed me. I could no longer take it :(.

My last pregnancy I found these lollipops on-line called "Preggo pops". They came in different flavours (including ginger) and really helped!

I found that taking my vitamin right before I went to bed kept it from making me feel sick, the way it did when I took it in the morning.

Lemon Italian ice helped me through both of my pregnancies. Also, crispy and cold Granny Smith apples. The pectin in the apples is supposed to help with nausea. Ginger ale was also helpful, but I had to have it icy cold. Also, if I waited till I was hungry, it was usually too late to feel better. Constantly sipping a drink or nibbling crackers just to keep something in my stomach was a must. Hope she finds something that works for her, and you all have a great trip!
