Morning EMH MK, Avoid Park?

Crowd calendar says to avoid Friday, 3/2 at MK due to morning EMH. However, this is the day I have planned to go to MK (we like our first day to be relaxed, which is that Thursday). This is the only park day for MK we have planned. Saturday is a non park day with lunch at Sanaa, Sunday 3/4 is park at Epcot, Monday is non park day, Tuesday we leave (purpose of our trip is more pool time, eating out, relaxing for Feb. break. DH is not a park commando kind of guy. DD and I will be doing MK solo). Should we move MK to Thursday 3/1 instead (want to avoid MK on Saturday, know it can be a zoo)? DD and I could definitely make use of the extra morning magic hour to get more rides in, but will avoid it if it makes for unbearable crowds. TIA!

I don't pay attention to crowd calendars or follow the rules of avoiding parks with EMH. In my mind if I want to go to a specific park on a specific day I'm going to go.

Not sure what calendar you are looking at, but just looked at the calendar we use- and it's a wash either day- historic crowd levels are the same both 3/1 and 3/2. Also, crowd level at EP and MK are identical for all days you are looking at so switching out days for a given park won't matter either.

I've heard that the morning EMH has become a double-edged sword: sure, the park is open longer, BUT more people go to the park because of it. I'm leaving in a week and just changed my plans to avoid the EMH at the MK. Anytime you can cut down on crowds (which eliminates wait times and opens up more FPs), the better. The evening EMH is not nearly as bad.

I think the only time it makes sense to avoid EMH parks is if you aren't going to do EMH. If you're going to use the extra time and it fits your schedule to be there for the whole day go for it. Plus it sounds like you are going to have mid-level crowd days any way so I don't think you should worry about it. Do what fits your overall vision of the trip.
