For you coffee addicts, what do you do about morning coffee? My Dh really needs coffee first thing in the morning, as do my parents. Are there coffee makers in the room? Is there any option other than getting fully dressed and going to the full breakfast?

I am pretty sure you can order it from roomservice for the same time each morning.

Room service!

You can have your coffee and a continental breakfast delivered right to your cabin, gratis. Just tip the delivery person.

The night before...

1. Open the desk drawer and take out a hang tag for continental breakfast.

2. Order coffee (and whatever else you might need/want), choose your time for delivery, and hang it outside on your door.

3. Room service will call you 3-5 minutes prior to delivering your coffee (which will be right on time - by the way).

It's WONDERFUL!!!

P.S. There are no coffee makers (or irons) in the stateroom. Too risky from a fire hazard point of view on a ship...

You can order room service or go to the coffee station on Deck 9.

Here comes the evil party pooper... *grin* If you really enjoy coffee, I'd suggest bringing your own...even if it was Maxwell House crystals, and I got hot water and made it, I'd do it (although I'm considering one of those push pots and some Dunkin Donuts coffee grinds for next time). Seriously, I am not what I consider a coffee snob, I usually only do 1 to 2 cups a day, but that Nescafe was simply AWFUL...and I found I missed my one morning coffee badly. :( It's the ONLY complaint I have about any food or beverage on board, so I guess I shouldn't complain, but if I had only known before...

Sidenote: isn't it interesting how we can't have irons in the rooms but CURLING irons and hair straigheners and all that are fine? ;)

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a "push pot"? I happen to be a very proud coffee snob, the old fashioned kind... as a matter of fact, I may be the only person still ordering "just a plain ole' coffee" at Starbucks these days!! Anyway, the thought of having bad coffee is worse than no coffee at all, and if there is a solution, I'd love to know about it. I thank you and my family REALLY thanks you for helping me avoid that 3PM headache!! :hyper:

I can't think of the official name...it's a glass pot, and you put the coffee grinds in, then hot water...and you put the cover on it, and it includes a thing you can push down...the grinds get caught under it and the coffee pours out as if filtered. It's European (my mom is Dutch, we got it from there)...

I'll look for it online and find a link!

EDIT - a FRENCH PRESS! Here's an electronic version...

Mine is just a glass carafe with the press...(just found it, for a second edit!)

warning...it makes STRONG COFFEE...but then again I could "press" it quicker I guess... *grin*

:hyper:

I think my dh got his press at a Starbucks. It does make strong coffee, but when you're desperate for good coffee...

I'm trying to hide this thread from my dh, neglecting to mention the coffee on board;otherwise, he'll want to pack his roaster, grinder, and expresso machine.

Get a starbucks cafe on board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could you imagine all those whipped up fraps? lol That would do a huge business if the coffee is really that bad... More things to spend our money on!

I am on the ship right now and I am real coffee freak. Here is what I am doing every night.
I ordered room service the night before (a pot of coffee) and it stayed hot until the next morning. Note: make sure they bring it to you in the metal thermos, if it comes in the white pot it will not stay hot.
I actually got this tip buy someone else on this board!:wave2:

I have to have a good cup of coffee in the morning as does my family. I was given a Cuisinart Two for the Road coffeemaker for Christmas. It brews 2 cups of coffee into thermal mugs. I brought some filters and my favorite coffee and was able to have my coffee every morning. I packed the coffeemaker in a suitcase and checked it with our other luggage.

An electric french press!! 4OfUs you are the best!

*stands up from his 'puter* Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a coffee addict.
It's the only reason I can't work at Starbucks, I'd never make any money. I've already emptied a pot and a half today (it's been slow). ::yes:: :teeth:

To be fair, the coffee in the Cove Cafe is awesome....but you have to pay for it and it's not open early in the morning. *pout* They had all sorts of fancy-shmancy stuff, I got one with Vanilla Ice Cream in it, and was wired but had my sugar fix all at once! :)

Hi all - I'm a coffee person too, but on a daily basis at home, can't normally afford to stop at Starbucks every morning... which is where my International Delights (or whatever that brand is) creamer comes in....

I would LOVE to be able to grab a few lattes or cappuchinos every day at the Cove, but thats just not realistic FOR ME, cost-wise.

So, on the grocery stop over to the port, I'm going to pick up a HUGE bottle of French Vanilla creamer to keep in the "cooler". Heck, I may also pick up another flavor too!! So, at least my two cups of coffee each morning from room service will TASTE gourmet!!

::yes::

I'm a coffee person. I also have a tendency to wake up early on Vacation. Don't ask me why, I can't figure it out.

Any whoo. I would wake up before everyone else, put on some comfy clothes (sweats), slide on my sandles, tie up my hair, and go up to the coffee station on Deck 9 and get a cup of coffee. They usually had pastries out too.

Then I would walk up to Deck 10 and watch the sun rise. There were usually a few other people wondering about like me.
It was calm and peaceful. A wonderful way to start the day.

:) Have a good cruise.

I am absolutely a coffee person. My local Starbucks knows me by name. I brought all the Starbucks employees Christmas presents the last two years.

On board the DCL I always get up early to go to the coffee station near Mickey's pool then take photos of the sunrise.

What a way to vacation .... coffee and a camera!
