OK... So I looked through a lot of old posts and while many touch on this none fully address what I'm trying to figure out.

We'll be going to MK on Dec 28th & 29th when the park opens at 7am. In an effort to get there as close to rope drop as possible, we don't plan on eating anything more than a breakfast bar before getting there.

My question is... where can we grab some good breakfast food using our snack credits around 9am?

It seems like most places don't open until 10:30 or 11am. Are there any options other than Main Street Bakery? Will it be packed by 9am on a capacity day with 7am EMHs?

It looks like Sleepy Hollow opens at 9am... can you get anything there with snack credits that's not dessert?

What about Sunshine Tree Terrace?

I don't see hours posted for Golden Oak Outpost, Lunching Pad, Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern or Westward Ho Refreshments. Anyone know if these are open for breakfast and whether or not they serve anything decent (even if it is only coffee...)?

If you can't tell... I've never been before, but I'm looking forward to the first trip. A big thanks goes out to all the folks who post on these boards. You've been a instrumental part of my planning.

Welcome! Now you'll be hooked. :rotfl: We don't do the dining plan and so our breakfast is either a) in line at the bus stop with protein bars (keeps you full for hours) & bottled water or a quick "side meal" with potatoes, fruit salad and fruit juice. Then again, we go in the summer which automatically means eating less.

But for your dining-plan-case, I'd suggest switching it up throughout the trip. On Magic Kingdom day, pick up one or two quick muffins, etc. from Main Street Bakery to share (go as early as possible) and then use a few credits for whole fruit at a nearby participating stand. Depending on lunch ADRs/plans, either eat before or after you begin riding the attractions so you're not running across the park wasting valuable time.

On Epcot day, remember the World Showcase section that has the great food doesn't open until later, so either pick up breakfast at your resort hotel's food court or try Sunshine Seasons. Same idea goes for Hollywood Studios, except try Starring Rolls (IF it's open)/Hollywood & Vine breakfast buffet (if there are ADRs available-side note: in my opinion, you have to try a Disney buffet on your first trip!) On Animal Kingdom Day, I would try Rainforest Cafe breakfast (if available) or a light breakfast with fruit stand fruit & pre-packed granola/protein bars because it puts you in the park.

That's just my two cents. :thumbsup2

Ah, you've hit on my major disappointment with the MK! There is nowhere to grab a quick "walking" breakfast besides the Bakery...everything is geared to the sweet breakfast. I don't want a muffin for breakfast! I want something salty, savory, something with protein. Not something just carbs/sugar.

Sleepy Hollow used to have a ham and Swiss croissant that fit the bill, but no more. I heard they have some kind of new waffle breakfast sandwich though, that might hit the spot...although I'm leery the waffle will be too sweet and carb-y.

Oh, and yes, the line for the Bakery always looks daunting at that time of day. I avoid it. I got stuck in that line once for almost an hour!

I just cannot figure out why WDW doesn't want to make it easier to sell me a breakfast sandwich or something! :confused3 there's no way on earth I'm wasting my time sitting in a restaurant at that time of day, when I don't want a huge meal....I just want something other than a sweet treat to keep me going for a few hours.

Sleepy Hollow does have Mickey waffles with various toppings - delish. Another option would be to buy something like muffins or croissants the night before and take them with you (packed in a cheap plastic storage dish maybe?). Just depends on whether you mind hauling those around with you for a couple hours.

Where are you staying? Most of the resort food courts open around 6am I believe, and some may have things you can pick up quick even earlier than that - not sure. We went to the food court at POR every morning before the parks and got something quick and easy, and it never took us longer than a half hour.

We went to MK when there was a 7am opening on 12/23. We swung by the bakery around 8:30. It was crowded but not mobbed. They also had an "express" location set up in the ice cream parlor on the corner that had muffins, Danish and coffee. That was much less crowded.
Our strategy in the days leading up to Christmas was quick carby breakfast early and then breakfast/brunch buffet around 10:30 or 11. It worked great for us. We got lots in before the mega crowds and could relax in the afternoon.

(I meant 12/22 above!)
