Morimoto Asia- When??

Anyone know when Morimoto Asia will open. Website said Summer 2015. Anyone have a date??

Spoke with a manager from the restaurant group who is flying down there to help open the restaurant and he said they have a targeted opening date in September.

I hear that. We would really have to save for it but we're all Morimoto fans and watch a lot of cooking shows.

Morimoto will be there for the first few weeks and then he splits to run the empire and the food is enh after. I've experienced this at the four Morimoto restaurants I've been to.

Yeah I read that, it's a shame they couldn't come to a better accommodation. But that doesn't change the fact that if he's putting his name on it, even if it's in name only, there is a certain expectation of quality, and I plan on checking it out!

There were disagreements over the menu. The people who frequent WDW would not support a traditional Morimoto menu so they wanted more options. The compromise was Morimoto Asian with an eclectic menu, not just Japanese and Morimoto's vision of Japanese.

That definitely makes sense. And most of the Disney restaurant use the similar approach. It's probably not nearly as good as Morimoto NYC, but im sure it will still have his standards.

The best meal I ever had was at his original Philly restaurant over a decade ago. It was a slower night (Dec 26) and was his only restaurant at the time but I was still surprised when he came out to sing me happy bday. Years later he opened up a bistro concept outside DC called Pauli Motos...it was underwhelming (it was also out of place in a mall) and closed down rather quickly. We'll be staying at WDW on 9/11 for 1 night only and are torn between Victoria & Albert's (Main Dining room), California Grill (no Wishes that night), or Morimoto Asia if it's open by then. We haven't been to DTD so I was really hoping to check it out but only if Morimoto Asia is open by then

Boo! They said Summer 2015. I was hoping it would be open for our trip in late August.

Just saw on the official Disney page for Morimoto's that they changed the anticipated opening from Summer 2015 to Fall 2015.
