Hi ...
I am posting this on the budget board to see if anyone out there know
of any type or where I can get some sort of discounts for Morey's Pier in Wildwood, NJ.
I have never been, but I have heard that their rides can get pricey... there is also an all day admission price.. which is not cheap...
I have browsed their website and I have to admit their prices are pricey !

Anyone know of any form of discounts available for this amusement park ??
Many thanks !

I think a lot of the hotels there have discount tickets- check with your hotel and see if they do.

Here's an example Harimar hotel

I know NOTHING about that hotel- just googled it for you.

Generally, when I take ds to Wildwood- we go in Sept- the passes are usually cheaper then too.

For kids, you definitely get your $$ worth with the wristband.

disneyred,

Since we are in the middle of the season, there are not any discounts that I know of. :confused3 :confused3 I live in the area, so I'm not sure about hotel discounts for Morey's. However, the all day pass (wristban) is a good deal if your family goes on a lot of rides. If you are planning a trip for next year, Morey's has a special sale on ride tickets on Easter weekend and for a month or so leading up to Easter. Books of tickets are about 50% off during that pre-season sale period. Tickets can be bought in person or through their web site. Most people that vacation here don't buy a wristban every day. One day they will go on the rides, one day they may play miniature golf or other things on the boardwalk. Also, other towns are close by that give you other options such as Cape May and Ocean City. Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks for all the input...too bad about lack of discounts, I always feel better when I can get some sort of discount !

and tmac1: if I have any other questions, I will let you know. thanks!

We go every September and I don't know about any discounts offered. We just got back from Knoebels and I told DD (age 5) to ride her little heart out because we won't be doing it at Wildwood. I think the prices are outragous!!!! Nothing beats Knoebels prices. We rode rides on Wednesday & Friday from 5-10 pm. She even did the coasters and it cost $12.00 each day. Can't wait till next year...(boo-hoo, too far away).

I live in Philadelphia and I believe there are discounts on Coke cans. I had a case last week but since we are not going didnt save any. Going to Knoebels too, I cant wait.!!!!!! I havent been there since I was a kid. I will keep my eyes open for the can because I am going to Target tomorrow and that is where I bought the last case of Coke. If I see one I can save it for you and mail it to you. When are you coming this way??? :bounce:

Hope you have a ton of fun at Knoebels. We just returned on Sunday and I'm ready to go back. We camp there every year so guess I have a BIG wait...

Ride the Pheonix for my daughter. On Friday, she rode it about 6 times. Good thing we had friends along and their 13 yr. old daughter kept riding with her. They would get off and run right back on since the line was so short.

Again, have a GREAT time !!!

PS - Remember, the Crystal Pool water is ICE COLD (incase you forgot since it's been so long).

Sometimes fast food places such as Wendy's will have deals. We always do Ocean City and buy our tickets pre-season, but Wildwood is fun too. Good Luck, I lobe the Jersey Shore in the summer.

Yes, after looking over their admission prices ! ... I tend to agree ...
outrageous.
Does anyone know how long it is to drive from Wildwood to Knoebels ??

I would estimate 4 hours or so.....if traffic is good to you....

Knoebels is in Central PA.

We were there last week, for the whole week. We actually live pretty close and often go for day trips. I have two boys ages 9 & 2. We went to the boardwalk every night and did the rides every night but 2.
It does get expensive. Wristbands for the older kids are the best. If you PM me I can send you $5 off a wristband coupon. If you can find a coke can, that would be your best bet. I have some tips for you.

ON Tuesdays ride wristbands are $15 if you ride between 12 and 6PM.

Catch the Movie on the beach 1 night. Bring beach chairs and snacks with you. They are currently showing Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The costy is $8 for adults $5 for kids. Small kids are free. This will give you a much needed break from the boardwalk and is allot of fun. (If you decide to see a movie on the boardwalk instead, don't. The Strand Theater is a mess) The movie on the beach is behind the convention center on the boardwalk.

On Wednesday nights at 6PM And 8:15PM they have wrestling on the beach. It's $3 for adults and kids are free. I'm not a fan of wrestling, BUT THIS WAS REALLY FUN. We did the 8:15 show.

There are free shore guides available at WAWA. Most of them have free coupons for buy on get one free Zombie world. And other values.

Avoide the Snow white restaurant on the boardwalk. It all looked so good there, but it really isn't. Keep in mind for decent cheap sandwiches, there are a few deli's off of the boardwalk (try a hoagie) Or, you can always trust WAWA. The food on the boardwalk is just okay. Though my kid's think it is the greatest. Mack's pizza is really good.

You can get an Orangeaide or lemnonaide from curly fries on any of the three peirs. I really liked the orangeaide. The first one is like $4. Refills are only $2. I kept the same cup all week for refills. Just make sure you wash the cup out at night.

The games are expensive. And they try to lure you in. My 9 year old got $20 a day to spend. I couldn't believe how the game vendors went after him, like trying to con him out of money. It's a good thing we were with him, or he would have blown all his money in 5 minutes.

The fudge is really good on the boarwalk. We really like the fudge kitchen.

Have fun

I forgot to add, Try the Cape May zoo one day. It's free but they ask for a donation. Just whatever you can give.

Wildwood also has fireworks on Friday nights. Wildwood really is a fun place. There is just so much going on all the time.

We were just in Wildwood last week and, yes, the amusement piers are very pricey. Buying the tickets books is very costly unless you're the type of family that would go to the boardwalk, do a single ride and grab an ice cream or water ice. Many rides cost several tickets (roller coasters run about 8 tickets each) and while a book of tickets may look fat, it is made up of half tickets and the other half will be discount coupons for other attractions or food on the piers.

My advise, if you choose to do the amusements, would be to plan an afternoon/evening for the family and just buy the ride bracelets. They do offer a discount for a family of 4. The cost is $120 on a weekday or $130 for Saturday or Sunday. All 4 wristbands must be used on the day of purchase.

If you're doing any of the waterparks, the late-day session (4:30 pm to closing) is only $15 for over 48" and $12 for under 48". My kids and their friends chose to do this and had a blast because it was less crowded and the water and air was still warm at 7pm when they left.

I do remember seeing an offer on the cable TV there that if you showed an ACME market receipt for $20 or more in purchases, you could get a discount on a ride bracelet, but I cannot remember the amount or if it had to be a waterpark/ride combo bracelet.

Many towns in PA, DE and NJ sell passes at a discounted price. One is Perkasie Borough in PA. I found their website and they do state on their website that you can call the Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society at 1-814-234-4272 to have discounted tickets mailed out for a $1 processing fee. You can check Perkasie's website at http://www.perkasieborough.org/discount_ticket_prices.htm for actual ticket prices.

Good Luck!

Cape May Zoo is awesome. I haven't been there in years, but use to go to Wildwood every year and stay at the Mid Town Motel. They do not allow any kind of food or beverage into the zoo. Even a toddlers cheerios will be taken at the gate.

So many of the hotels are being torn down and replaced by condo's. I never stayed at the mid town. I think that is one of Morey's hotels. We stayed at the King's inn this time. It's right off of the boardwalk. The hotel is no frills, but very clean. It was a fun crowd, mostly Philly people, lot's of fun.

We will be there is September for the car show. We go every year at the same time. DH LOVES the cars.

On the boardwalk, we normally eat at the HOT SPOT. We love their cheese steaks. Breakfast is also good. Haven't gotten a bad meal yet...

Off the boardwalk, we now eat at Kelly's Cafe (big neon sign) for our GOOD meal for the weekend. Love their steak. It is on Atlantic Avenue, which is about 2 blocks off the boardwalk. I highly recommend it...

From Knoebels to Wildwood, I'm going to say about 3 1/2 - 4 hours. The people camping next to us were from NJ. They said they lived about 45 minutes from Wildwood and it took them 3 hours to get to knoebels.

Hope everyone has a safe trip. Anyone else going to be there for the car show weekend?

We are going back for the Monster truck races the first weekend in September. Can't make the car show this year.

To reiterate what Tmac1 stated earlier, look online at the site before Christmas through Easter. Always a heavy discount then for the upcoming year. We use the books as Christmas gifts for friends who come to visit regularly (yes, I'm a local).

Since so many of the replies indicate repeat visitors, at least you can plan for next year.

Are these discounts you mention valid for the summer months..(july/aug)???

Just bought a little cottage in the area so we're also "locals." The online Christmas and Easter specials are great if you're buying ticket books. Check online at Ebay...some folks are selling coupons and/or unused tickets there. The ride tickets do not expire but the food coupons usually do. I love the new outdoor movie and agree that the theater on the boardwalk is nasty, tiny and junky. Don't forget to take a drive down to Cape May and walk around the gorgeous Victorian homes. Mack's Pizza truly is the best and you must have a Kohr Bros. custard cone. Curly's fries are very tasty and WE LOVE playing Flipper's Fascination. Go just after 11:00 p.m. and you'll enjoy the surprises! So much fun for 20 cents a game.
