More WL DVC?

Teepees on the water is ridiculous IMO. One of the beauties of WL is that shoreline is hidden by trees.

Thematically, I could see fishing cabins on the water, but not teepees.

I am far from being a Disney insider, but do believe that more resort conversions seems highly possible.

I am waiting for Andrew, the WL guru, to join this discussion.

not sure teepees would be considered politically correct, could easily be construed as cultural appropriation or even a racial slight. Washington, DC's football team has had more than their share of issues.

Seems like Disney is all about making money now and not looking at the long term. Why?

Bonuses for the executives?

Take the DVC sales cash now then sell the resorts?

Sell the DVC?

Yes, why cannibalize rooms in the short-term instead of developing a long-term strategy for increasing occupancy?

I firmly believe it is bonuses for the executives in the short term.
I also think we will see the start of "One DVC", much like "One Disney" where all the plates, bedding, furniture, lamps will all become the same at some point in the future. Remember the styrofoam cups at the studio villas? And all of it to line the wallets of executives with more, and larger bonuses.

I would love to stay in the main lodge with DVC, especially concierge, but I do not see it happening. If it did they would definitely need to extend VWL

The Styrofoam cups were a knee-jerk reaction to a hidden camera video from the Contemporary showing a Mousekeeper "cleaning" the glasses in the bathroom with the same towel she had just used to clean the bathroom itself. Disney apparently decided that since the Studios do not have a dishwasher and Mousekeeping did not have clean glasses and mugs on their carts to restock the kitchenettes, it was best to use disposable cups in those rooms. This was an issue at OKW and SSR in particular since they aren't attached to a hotel that could supply the clean glassware. Disney had to install special equipment at those two resorts to wash the glasses and mugs.

The lingering question is, if they normally supply fresh glasses every day on the hotel side, why didn't the Mousekeeper put out fresh glasses instead of washing the old ones when cleaning that room at the CR?

maybe I missed it - but where did this information come from?
If you're wondering how the OP in the linked thread came to this information, he/she didn't actually say which puts the information firmly in the rumor stage. That is not to say the scoop doesn't have merit or some veracity--in fact, it has been opined that the linked-thread OP is a long-time CM--but there have been no substantiating facts revealed other than the original claim and lots of supposition. ;)

As a VWL owner, I would welcome the conversions but with some reservations. I especially like the idea of a separate points chart for those particular concierge rooms giving one the option to stay in the current DVC rooms for a lower point total. I, too, enjoy the topiary, the walkway with flickering lanterns, the set-apart nature of the Villas, the serenity of the trees off each balcony. If for a special occasion, we wanted to stay concierge DVC, that would be a separate point option. Another concern would be any changes to Artist Point. While it may need updating in some areas, I would hate to lose the casually-refined ambience it currently possesses, and it remains perhaps the easiest signature restaurant reservation to snag which we love. I don't for a second believe DVC would make any changes to benefit the members so much as it would better line their pockets. However, it is possible to do both. This should be a fun rumor to track for awhile. ;)

I have never heard this rumor, but strangely enough we are staying at VWL right now and have noticed an unusually high number of upper level Disney cast members standing around the main building with their clip boards and engaged in deep conversation.....Hmmmmmmmm

If the theming and decor from the recently completed VWL hard goods renovation carries over to the VWL expansion, would you be willing to pay $150-165 per point for those villas?

Not if it's the same as the existing villas.

VGF was worth it due to the limited number of rooms, the level of furnishings, appliances, and design. Plus GF is Disney's flagship resort and it has monorail, boat, and bus access.

It will be a very curious expansion with a novel point chart. If the expanded lodge rooms follow VGF and PVV, then the existing villas will need their own category on the point chart. If all of the rooms are pooled, I, for one, would be disappointed if I was assigned an older villa in the annex as opposed to a newer villa in the main lodge.

The villas were just all refurbed. Don't see any difference other than the locations of the rooms themselves. There would be no special decor with renovated hotel rooms.
