More Washington DC hotel advice needed

I'm going to be in Washington DC for three nights in June. I will be in full tourist/sightseeing mode. I'm not getting a car. I am willing to make a safe walk to a Metro stop (less than a mile though). Can I find anything in the District for less than $100/night? If not, which suburb offers the best location and variety? I'm hoping for a Courtyard/Fairfield/Comfort Inn with decent food nearby.

Thanks for any advice,
Ronda

Nope. And you will be unable to find anything in the suburbs near a metro under $100 either (especially in the summer, but probably even in the off season). I live pretty far out in MD and the hotel near the metro near my apartment goes for $150 during the winter.

DC is an expensive place.

It's funny that you ask this today. I just saw a story on the Today show about traveling 'cheap' in major cities and they recommended this place for Washington, DC. You might want to check their website. They also had recommendations for 'cheap eats' in DC.

Hope that helps.

You may be able to get something on Priceline for under $100. There is a brand new Westin in Arlington that someone recently got for $80. It is a few blocks from Metro and near many restaurants and shops. You could also try for downtown.

Thanks for the Adams Inn tip. For some reason they're not answering the phone ; ) Nothing like a network mention to clog the line.

I need to check out biddingfortravel, are there other what-I-got-priceline-for sites?

Thanks.

Not sure when in June you are going but Travel Zoo just sent me a special for the Hyatt at $99.00. Included a few June dates.

$99 -- Washington D.C. Hotel at over 70% OFF

We stayed at the Renaissance last summer for $159.00, which was a great deal and right on the new bus line.

Thanks. I haven't been to Travel Zoo in a long time. I'll keep an eye out there.
