More updated Fastpass+ information

Good for you! I love everything about FP+, and I am looking forward to my fabulous Disney vacation, with my fabulous rubber bracelet. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion -- just like I am entitled to mine. Please understand that we are not all the same, and we don't have to like the same things. So, please respect my opinion, as I am respecting yours. Disney has not released anything final on FP+, it's all speculation at this point -- so forgive me for not partaking in the "doom & gloom." FP+ compliments the way I like to vacation. I am not a huge fan of the current FP system, so I am looking forward to the new FP+. Again, have fun and good luck exploring your other options and I'll keep planning my fabulous Disney vacation! Thank you!

Where, in my previous post did I indicate that I did not respect your opinion? I was asking WHY you had formed this opinion. And you still haven't said why you think that this new system is so fabulous. I think it would be absolutely the most fabulous thing in the world if anyone could formulate a concrete reason why this new system is the last word in fabulous.

So, please respect my opinion,

You make that difficult to do when you say:

If there is not enough evidence to form a negative opinion, how are you justified in your lovefest with the same lack of evidence?

You don't seem to see any hypocrisy in labeling others as "Doom and Gloom" based on a negative response in light of a lack of evidence. However you have explicitly demonstrated extreme insult on having your attitude labeled as "pollyanna".

~I can't do this with you! Enough! I like what I've heard about FP+, the current FP system does not compliment my park touring style. Period. I don't have to convince you as to why I like something. I don't feel like the sky is falling -- I'm not going to cancel my vacation and I'm certainly not going to complain ad nauseam in every single thread about something I have yet to experience. Why is that so hard to understand??? Let it go, please. We're different, accept that.

There's no point in getting too excited about all this until the company actually officially releases specifics.

I agree, which is why I have stayed away from these threads of late. However you have to admit it is looking more and more like the worst case scenario is going to be thrust upon us. I personally feel that it is important for those that feel 3 FP's per day is not enough should voice that opinion EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE they can find an outlet to express it. These days corporations are willing to turn on a dime if they feel enough public pressure warrants a change.

The stand by lines would have to be a lot shorter for this to be a good thing in my books!

Havn't read the rest of the post yet, but the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if this is why we are seeing reports of longer standby lines lately. If it gets too insane, people will demand a better way.

And yet you seem to feel the need to come back time after time and express your undying love for FP+. Shouldn't those with a differing opinion have the right to express it as well? And if you challenge them on their opinion you should expect questions as to how your opinion was formed and why. It's called civil discourse. I suspect the problem lies in that the basis of your positive opinion lies simply in the fact that it is Disney and therefore fabulous. For some of us that is not enough.

I've read that this new system was very expensive to implement, and I would think they could have spent the money in a better way. I have always used Fastpasses but always thought (and maybe this was even explicitly stated) that the benefit to Disney was that guests spent their time shopping and eating, not waiting in line. This seems like it will have the opposite effect... annoyed people in longer lines, not spending money.

Do you think it is (relative) safe to say that if this awful thing rolls out by summer, both method of fastpass will be working side by side in July?

No one knows for sure how long the current FP system will remain in place once FP+ is rolled out. There's one thing that people need to keep in mind. I've seen plenty people on other threads say they'll opt out of FP+ and stick with regular FP while it's still in place. But I have a feeling Disney is going to make the regular FP system feel pretty difficult to use. For FP+ to catch on and become the popular system Disney is banking on, most of the attractions' FP allotment will likely go to FP+ with a much smaller pool going to the regular FP. Disney wants everyone to convert to FP+ (and everyone will have to eventually), and the only way to get more people to convert is to make the leftover FP system a less-desirable option.

If this runs the same as it did during the testing period we had 3 Fastpass Plus at MK and 4 at HS (it sounds like it will just be 3 everywhere now) and they all had to be in the same park on the given day.

Three was plenty because while you had those 3 reserved Fastpasses you could still pull the regular Fastpasses and tour the way you normally would. The flexibility of being able to change a fastpass you were holding was nice. If my son fell asleep in his stroller 5 minutes before our window we did not have the flexibility to change the time on the current paper Fastpass but we could do that with Fastpass Plus. If they take away the existing system and still limit you to 3 then I would not be happy. As long as the 2 co-exist this a good thing. We were able to have Fastpasses for Toy Story Mania on our arrival day. Without Fastpass Plus there was no way that would have happened (a long wait in line with a 2 1/2 year old is no fun for anyone. Myself, him or surrounding guests)

I'm going to maintain my time will tell attitude.
If I can reserve Splash Mountain for 5pm, BTMRR for 6pm and Peter Pan for 7pm.....then get to the park as I usually do for RD, walk on to all of those plus some during the first two hours, and fill the rest of the day with high capacity attractions, I think I'll be happy. This assumes that the FPs are not tiered....
I do use more than three a day right now, but only because they're sitting there...most of them aren't really necessary.....

I don't agree that it looks like anything is being thrust upon us. What it looks like I that an unsourced bit of speculation was posted on the Internet.

Until details are released, we won't know. That being said, the company has stated that this is expected to result in people spending less time waiting in lines

Actually, all they'll have to so is turn off the old FP machines.

I was thinking the same thing.

The whole Next-Gen system reportedly has cost Disney somewhere between $1 billion and $2 billion. They didn't spend that kind of money simply to change the FP system, they spent it because the new RFID cards/bands will allow Disney to collect much more accurate data to use for their marketing and advertising. Disney believes this new system will pay dividends above and beyond that couple-of-billions-of-dollars investment. The new FP system is just an ancillary part of the system. But since that is the part of the system that most guests will interact with, it's the part that will get the most attention from the public.

Maybe if I wrote this in bright pink, it would make everything look less doom and gloom. I'm not anti-FP+, I'm just a bit apprehensive about myriad aspects of the system. The biggest source of apprehension for me is the fact that this entire new system is predicated on a Disney Web site that hardly ever functions properly. But until we get concrete answers from Disney, I'm not willing to label the system a disaster OR the super-bestest, most fabulous Disney product of all time.

~You don't seem to have any control. You cannot label me, and just to express the notion that you somehow could, or that I would even care, sends out so many red flags! You are entitled to bemoan this system, as I am entitled to look forward to it. There's nothing to argue.

~I find your posts to be incredibly rude, and I am politely asking that you direct your negativity elsewhere. Where I post and how I post should be of no concern to you. I don't share your opinion about FP+, it's just that simple. It's clear that I never questioned anyone's opinion, I only expressed mine, so don't apply your twisted logic to me. Thanks!!! Time to move on!

Amen. This is what I call a voice of reason. :thumbsup2

I have stayed away from all of these debates...but...

I don't think this is the end of the world. First of all, we need to remember that we ( on this board) are a small percentage of people who visit Disney World every day. I was just there last week, and I would say that more people do not use the FastPass system than those that do. They go there knowing they're going to stand in line for their rides. After all these years it still amazes me when I go to hand someone a FastPass that we're not going to use and they look at me and go "what is this." And that happened to us twice last week. This is a great benefit to me and all of you.

I guess I just want to believe that Disney has thoroughly investigated this has determined the percentage of people who will benefit from the new system is greater than those who won't. Does it mean my touring style is going to change a bit, yes of course it does. My sisters family would never get fast passes for the bigger attractions. They would use theirs for parade viewing and firework spots.

Not everyone is a good enough planner to have discovered this board and figured out all the wonderful things as they can do to get the maximum number of rides. I still say that over 70% of the people go there to wait in line. That is a benefit to me and my family. I see someone going "hey I have my FastPass plus for space Mountain at noon so we don't need to be at the parks until 11am". And I'd really like to believe that more people are going to be that way and that again benefits me and my family.

So I guess we'll just have to wait and see when they roll this out. And I know all of you on this board will figure out the ways to game the system will post it for this nice small percentage of people and we will still have a way to maximize our rides for us and our family.

Okay, I'll step off my soapbox now and the rest of you can continue your fighting.
