More Trollish Behavior BEWARE!

Thanks Kevin, I love the community that these boards are and love being a part of it. I'll be sure to not respond to trolls, even though it's sometimes difficult not to try and reason with them.

Sadly, I've found from experience that you can't reason with someone who resorts to using aliases for the sole purpose of causing trouble, Sharon. I've lost any shred of respect now that he's resorted to doing that.

The odd and sad thing is, if we met him in person and had a face-to-face conversation with him, we might find that he could be an okay person.

I had an all-day workshop today on "community building". Learned that we need to talk to people who we disagree with, who with think are our enemies. People are like faceted jewels. There is a least one facet where we can match up and find common ground, even if we don't agree with other facets of the person.

Seems a shame that here in the DIS community we were not able to find that facet.

Let's continue to be the kind and sharing and friendly community we know we are. :flower3:

We have tried to be friendly with him, but that is not what he wants. It is so sad that he is willing to make up a few new login names just so he can cause trouble. I just don't understand this. :sad2:

Kevin,
I have been a member for some time, but I am relatively new to posting on the boards.

What is a troll? I am guessing people posting bad things? Forgive the naive question.

Hi Scottie...

I'd like to take credit for coming up with this...but Justin Jett (Skip) posted this the other day and I cant come up with any better answer.

Troll (Internet)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
See "What is a troll?".
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

Hope that helps.

It all comes from trolling in the fishing context more than the troll under the bridge. Troll's drag bait through a thread hoping for a someone to bite.

I wasnt aware of the origins....just the outcome.

It's time to make the Dis Unplugged Board a comfortable place to hang out again.

I know you are absolutely right Lori, I just have to control my 'make everything right' nature. :goodvibes

Da, da, dahhhh!
<Dramatic music>
Whenever a Noob cries out in the darkness...

Whenever a Troll tries to ruin a thread...

Whenever a post needs a snarky comment...

You know you can count on:

SuperKev!

Sorry, I just couldn't help it... ;)

You need to know up front that Edna Mode is going to have trouble with my costume.

I do not look good in Spandex.

I was going to say it, but knew I'd get spanked in chat for every typo I make from here out.

Spanx rules. I want to buy stock in them. Many of you know that I have lost a significant amount of weight (119 lbs.). Well, when you lose a lot of weight your skin does not always snap back like it should. Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel like a lemon meringue pie. This has been a life savior for certain outfits. Yes, TMI for some, but not for others. :)
