more traveling with an infant questions...

Sorry but I need to pick the brains of you well-traveled-with-infant people!!

1. Is it better to put formula, diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. into a piece of luggage and check it? Or to pack it into a box and mail to the resort?
(Fyi...DD is on special formula, we're using Magical Express, and we're staying at POFQ.)

2. Is it better to gate check the stroller or regular check the stroller? Should we get a stroller bag for either of these?
(DD will be in her carseat on the plane and the stroller is a Mac Quest)

3. Should we get a car seat bag to put the car seat into for the Magical express bus or not?

4. Is PalMickey still in effect? We bought one back in '03 and were wondering if we should bring it or not to entertain DD.

1. The way I did it was have a least a couple of days worth of formula, diapers etc. in carry on. Logic was it would give a bit of time to replace anything that was lost/broken/destroyed in checked luggage. I checked the rest...packing very well in bubble wrap... My sister tried the mail to hotel thing in CA (not WDW) with special Nutramigin formula and the hotel ended up refusing it even though they assured her they would accept it...So be careful!

2. I have the same stroller. I gate check it. I personally like to have DD sit in it while I manuever thru the Airport. I've never used a bag but its not a bad idea...DH wraps it together with elastic stappy bands to keep it all together nice.

3. We actually have a cheapo Costo Lightweight car seat for travel..So I've never been very concerned about it..But they do make you put the carseat under in the luggage compartment so if you don't want it scratched up, it might be a good idea.

4. Sorry..Never used pal Mickey..but I've seen them in stores as recently as Dec 05.

Hope that Helps... You'll have a great time! DD has been 5 times to WDW, Trips to NYC, LA and PA. Travel with an infant is very possible, just maybe not as relaxing as pre-baby ...

I am considering using on of the grocery services for ordering baby supplies, breakfast items and water. I will have to do the breakdown though and see if I can get $50 worth of stuff since we are on the DDP. Not sure if we will need baby food or not. If we do I will defintely use the grocery service.

I always shipped ahead. I'd ship FedEx ground from the local Kinkos. I'd go online and calculate delivery time and then ship it so that it arrived before I had to leave. (If I was arriving on Friday, I'd ship it to be there on Wed. That way if it didn't make it, I could tell by the online tracking and could go to plan B). I just made sure I had enough diapers and stuff for at least 36 hours *just in case*.

I agree with Gate Checking. One, I know for sure the stroller gets on my plane and two, I can use it in the airport rather than carrying my DS AND all the cary on stuff or chasing DS while carrying said stuff. I never bought a stroller bag, I just got some of those bungy style cords from the dollar store and wrapped those around the stroller to keep it closed really tight and I never had a problem.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can use the car seat on the bus so it would just depend on how concerned you are with scuffs etc. on the car seat from being underneath the bus.
