More Than Just a Countdown to Disney

We like to stretch out the fun of a Disney vacation and build anticipation by having a countdown while we're still at home. I usually start them 40 days out and try to do a different little activity with the kids everyday. With the craziness of planning and getting ready for our trip, I like to have these few minutes to spend with my kids. Some days we will make a Disney snack or dessert, others we create a craft, sometimes we learn, or read a book. I have several lists on my blog if you want to use some ideas to have a countdown that's more than just a paper chain.

Thanks for sharing! My kids are not quite 3 and we just started our paper chain for our trip next week. I'm excited for doing more elaborate things with them once they are older. They did help with the paper chain and it was a lot of fun.

We love our Disney countdowns! We only get to Disney to celebrate each child's 5th birthday. There is usually 2-3 years between each trip. So by the time Disney comes around again everyone is so excited! For our latest trip we started our count down at 300 days, with a "Disney night" every month. It may sound like a little much, but with the older kids (9 and 11) needed little reminders on why we were saving money and saying to no to some expenses. And it's FUN!

I agree! We remind our kids of that, too. "No, we aren't going to the amusement park/carnival this summer because we are going to Disney." It's all worth it in the end!
