More SW frustration

I've been watching for SW to release more flights - not going until Feb, but want to just keep on top of times/fares as it gets closer. I was really hoping to take the 10:55 a.m. out of BDL and return on the 2:15 out of MCO, but now they've GOTTEN RID OF THEM!! And worse yet, the closest n/s's around those times are an hour LATER on the way down and an hour EARLIER on the return!!! Why would the wise people at SW think I want to 2 hours less at WDW?! Any other BDL fliers as bummed as I am?? Let's hope they bring the good flights back for the spring rush!

Just remember there is alot more in the Orlando area than just WDW. Not everyone who is flying to MCO is going to WDW. Personally I find a 2:15 flight useless, most of my flying is for business and leaving for 2:15 flight is next to impossible to make. I prefer flights that leave after 5PM so that I can get a full day at my client site. You too could also take a LATER flight if you want more time in WDW. SWA also offers a 4:20 and 6:25 return to BDL.

For a short stay I'll take the last flight down (after work) and just get a hotel room by the Orlando airport for the night. You can usually get a room for $40-$50 if you use priceline.

prncess674 -- why the flames? I certainly know that I'm not the only one flying SW to MCO, just venting a little light frustration. You see, I'm just one of those obsessive planners -- I've already read 3 Disney planning guides cover-to-cover. (I know - it's not healthy!) I get anxious to firm up each part of the trip -- and this is why. I've been watching SW's schedule since April and planning on those flights since then; now I just need a little time to adjust to different flights.

Thank you for the suggestions about other flights. I looked again at that 4:45 and it might work. What I didn't put in my original post is that we are traveling with my DD (then 5) and DS (then almost 4) so N/S and not traveling too late are both pretty important (for my sanity!)

Oh well, I've learned my lesson -- I won't count on anything until I've booked it!

:)

not a flame, just so many people on this board assume that the only person who flies to MCO is people going to the house of the mouse. SWA carefully plans out there flight schedules to meet the needs of all there customers not just the WDW crowd. Frankly the flights in the middle of the day tend to be the emptiest hence they tend to be the ones cut first. SWA is in the business of making money and if the flight doesn't sell out then it is a losing business proposition. If they could regularly sell the flight out then I assure you that it wouldn't get cut from the schedule.

I agree that travelling non-stop is usually the best decision when travelling with small ones. Perhaps there are other airlines you could fly or if you really want to maximize your WDW time stay at the airport hotel near MCO and take the first flight out in the morning just as LewisC has suggested.

Thanks, prncess674. I'm feeling a little better now. Unfortunately, the trip is a surprise b-day present for our DD (5), and we are planning on her "opening" the trip when she gets up in the morning, and then being at Chef Mickey's for a b-day dinner -- so we can't be as flexible as we usually are. But that's ok -- it'll be well worth the smiles on DD's face! :Pinkbounc

They have 3 N/S
7:35a
11:30a
7:45p
Seems like a reasonable distribution of flight times.

I am really not sure what you are looking at, but, they have; departing: 7:35 am, 11:30am and 7:45 pm
leaving FL: 8:30a, 1:05p, and 4:45pm. Surely, something in that range should please you.

I believe the NonStop at 7:30AM is a new flight they've added. I don't remember seeing that one before and I'm thrilled as I like to get there in the morning, if possible. Also, the 1:00pm departure is not really such a horrible time as you usually have to be out of your hotel room by 11:00 anyways. Sure, the 2:20pm departure was a little better, but I don't think that's too bad for times.

No, that flight has been around awhile. I have looked at that one often and just chuckled. I am lucky to make the 10:55 am one. :)
