Then one every 2 years or so after that!
Lets face it, Lucas has milked that cash-cow from day one. Read something YEARS ago about it originally being a nine or twelve film story. Then read somewhere the plan was every generation would have their own version, like those over 30 preferring the originals and those under 30 preferring the Phantom menace onwards etc.
Star wars has become much more part of our culture rather than pop-culture now. There were the movies, then books, then computer games, then VHS, DVD, etc etc. If Lucas was in the market to sell, someone else would have bought it and milked it just as much, its just that Disney are the experts to the point of not only flogging the dead horse, but then getting it to walk bigger, stronger, faster all over again.
Then again, with the likes of Doctor Who, The Avengers (Emma Peel vs Purdey, NOT the comic book ones) and James Bond, the one you grew up with was who you favor. For me it is the 1977 Star Wars, Empire, Jedi; Purdey; Tom Baker, But with Bond, it was Tim Dalton rather than Roger Moore maybe patriotism got that one, with Tim being Welsh!
