OP, many many hugs to you and your family. I understand the feeling, we had to put our boxer down with pretty much the same diagnosis. We did have 6 more months with him but towards the end it was just horrible. We selfeshly waited probably two days longer than we should have. He used to wait for the kids in the morning to go out the front door to school, that Monday morning he never left his chair in the living room. I pretty much knew it was time. He had started to barely eat by that point, and anything he would eat was soft food.
We now are dealing with a tumor on our boxer girl, 10, spine. It can not be treated. In June we were given the 6-12 months scenerio again. So far she is doing well, has not lost any ability to use her legs ect. We are hoping for a few more months but know this time we will not wait if it appears it is time.
God bless you and you are right your new dog was sent to help you through. 2 weeks after Bruiser passed away, we got Ginger through a marine who was being deployed and needed someone to take her. We thought it was just for awhile...she has been here ever since. When my dh brought her home, she was sitting int he front seat of the van like she belonged there. And so she did, for the last 8 years she has definitely belonged here!
