I want to thank everyone for answering my previous questions. It sure is nice to have the advice of the experts.

So, I am trying to plan our trip to DL and DCA for the week of July 26. We want our vacation to be for 7 nights, but really only want to be in the parks for 4 (4 day park hopper). We like to have one day of down time before hitting the parks and one day of down time after the parks.

I really want to stay in one of the on-site Disney hotels. Do you think there is enough stuff to do for the 2 days of down time in one of the hotels? We have 3 kids (8,8,10) who love the pool so I thought we could just hang around the hotel for those 2 days and sit by the pool and just relax.

Are any of the Disney hotels better for this than others? I want something very kid friendly. Also, since we are a family of 5 it is really hard to find a room to fit us all and not be cramped. Do any of the Disney hotels have suites that will fit a family of 5?

Thanks. I am sure I will have other questions as time goes on. I appreciate all the help.

My kids are younger but they love GC for the bunkbeds. DLH and PP rooms are bigger. DH loves the flat screen in GC:rotfl2:

Thanks for the information about the hotels. Is there more to do at one than the other on the down days? I just don't want the kids or us to get bored. I don't think we will. Do other people just hang out at the hotel for a day or 2 or is it all go, go, go to the parks and nothing else? I just want to be sure that it is "acceptable" to take a day or 2 off. I want this to be a relaxing vacation and since we are driving 6 hours to get there and 6 hours to get home, we need some downtime. I was considering stopping somewhere on the way there (we live in San Ramon up near San Francisco) and on the way back (like Pismo Beach or Monterey), but I would really rather have the whole vacation at Disney.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I grew up in Pismo:thumbsup2 There is alot to do beside the park. There is DTD, Outlet shopping. We are not Open to Close people either. I enjoy quiet time and relaxing time.

We send a couple of hours at the pool, have lunch at White Water. Watch movies, people watch, play games, explore the grounds, at GC there is a teasure hunt.

There's plenty of stuff to do when your not at the parks:

-AMC Theatres at DTD
-ESPN Zone at DTD, great sports arcade for kids of that age
-Shopping and eating at DTD, could easily take up a whole day
-Pool
-Character meals
-exploring other hotels
