Hello again,
We stayed at the DLH in July 2010 and loved it. We didn't have one of the few refurbished rooms, but we were delighted with our room and we actually had a view out of the windows of the park and fireworks at night. It was a standard room with no upgrade.

We are planning on going to DL in June 2012 and I am not sure whether we want to stay at the DLH again (are all the rooms refurbished by now?) or if we want to pay more and stay in the GCH.

We have a couple of variables going on:
1) there's a chance that my parents would be going with me and the girls. Last time we went we rented a scooter from a local medical place for my Dad and we would probably need to rent 2 this time for both of my folks...and they take up room. :-)

2) there's a chance that my sister and her family would come with us which could mean a party of 9-11 people.

I see that you can get suites at the GCH...can you at the DLH too? I have been trying to figure out the costs involved for package deals (room, park hopper tickets, etc) so I can break it down for my sister's husband (he's a CPA LOL).

Can someone point me to a link that helps me break down each part?? Also, is it worth spending the extra $300-400 to stay at the GCH? Just trying to justify the added expense. :-)

Any additional suggestions would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

I believe that all the DLH rooms are completely renovated by now, or at least they are not booking any non-renovated rooms. I have heard fabulous things about the new rooms! We stayed at the timeshare villas at the GCH last month, and they are pretty spacious. I do recall that the GCH standard rooms are smaller than the DLH rooms. If space was a huge consideration and you couldn't book a villa or two, then I would stay at the DLH because I know the rooms are bigger. From quotes I used to get for GCH suites, I think those are super pricey! The DLH does indeed have suites, at least according to the website.

The location and convenience of the GCH is great, but do the price comparison for your group and see what the total difference is for the size room(s) you are booking. If it's $300-400 for the whole trip, I guess it would depend on what the whole trip is costing!

Sounds like a great family trip! We will be there next June, too :cool1:!

Thank you, Denise! I think I will continue to do research and then when I have a positive head count I will just call them and talk to them to get quotes. :-)
