From the photos and maps of Pop, the resort doesn't look that much bigger (spread out) than POFQ.

Is that correct or am I way off? I know there are many more rooms, I'm wondering about the distance from the buildings to the bus and food court.

Also, are there places to eat outdoors near the food court, or anywhere else at the resort? At FQ we ate out in the courtyard most mornings, and also at tables near the pool and laundry room.

I haven't stayed at POFQ, so I can't compare the two resorts.

Most of the rooms at PC seem to be withing reasonable walking distance of Centennial Hall, except those at the very back of the resort. They can be a bit of a hike! The bus stop is just outside Centennial Hall.

There are some tables and chairs outside the Food Court at PC, as well as quite a bit of seating inside.

I've never stayed at POFQ but I hear that everything is pretty compact there. I think that for a value resort with so many rooms, Pop is relatively compact. The furthest I've ever stayed from the food court and bus stop is in the '80s building, but really even that didn't seem ridiculously far. There are tables all around the hippy dippy pool and tables outside the food court.

Way off :upsidedow
POP is huge compared to POFQ.
I've stayed at both, twice. We were in one of the furthest buildings at POFQ the last time (Building 1) and both times we were at POP it was in the 80s.

I would say Building 1 at POFQ is about three times closer to Sassagoula Floatworks than the 80s are from Classic Hall. Hope that makes sense.

There are tables right outside the food court, and around the pool too. We saw many families having breakfast by the pool in July - it may have been due to the fact that there wasn't a seat to be found inside.

ditto, the furtherest walk at POP would be roughly three times longer than the furthest walk at POR.

ok marivaid:0 I have seen lots of your posts:)

If you had to choose POP or POFQ.....which would you choose? Been to POP...trying to decide for nights for F and W...just gathering opinions so I can have an educated decision...can get AAA rate for either...Thanks

Good info here BTW

Pop is a lot larger than POFQ. They probably show maps to fill up the page, no matter how big or small the resort is.

There are almost 3000 rooms at Pop currently and about 1000 at POFQ.

Also, Pop has three swimming pools, and POFQ has one. Pop is fun, larger than life icons, and often times a hustle-bustle feel to it. Very large food court with a lot of choices. Some areas are a little hike to food court and buses, but not too bad.

POFQ is quaint, very pretty, fairly quiet (although the food court can be filled and noisy during peak meal times). You can walk over to POR resort for a sit down dinner and you can also use the pool over there. POFQ has the river boat to POR and DTD, which is really nice. POFQ has one pool with a dragon slide (not a large slide, more of a kids slide, but I thought it was fun). POFQ rooms include fridge and coffe maker (since it's a moderate resort).

I loved them both.

oh boy I'm famous
just kidding !!!

Well, I guess it depends on what you like. POFQ is very quiet. Sometimes too quiet for my taste. But the rooms are very nice, and the grounds are lovely too. If it's just adults and you want something on the romantic side then go for POFQ :)
But if you have kids and they want something fun, laid back and kinda loud then POP's the way to go.

Or somewhere in between POP and POFQ, you have ASMU. Very quiet for a value, nice rooms, and cheap too. :thumbsup2

I've never stayed at POFQ but I HAVE stayed at POR and POP and I don't think there's a big difference at all. But then I'm not one to complain about the "hike" at POP. We stayed in the 70's at POP on the furthest end of the building, overlooking the lake. It was a straight shot to the busses and food court. At POR, we were in Acadian House (last of Magnolia Bend before you hit Alligator Bayou), and it was a haul. And while POP has a lot more rooms, keep in mind that the moderates have more theming spaces than the values. In other words, the value land might have 3 times as many rooms, but only be 1.5 times as large land wise, than a moderate. Make sense?

I think you would be very surprised to see how tiny POFQ is compared to POR. It is kind of like just one little section of a larger resort. I love POFQ (and POR too for that matter), at night time.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to know we can eat outdoors.

We have three days we won't be doing parks, so we'll be eating quite a few meals at Pop. Unless the bus to DTD is quick and easy....then we'll be eating at the Earl of Sandwich, our favorite counter service place!

I had a feeling the resort couldn't be as compact as it appears on the map, not with that many rooms and buildings. At FQ I was able to run in to the food court several times a day for a refill of the mug. That probably won't be happening at Pop.

Less than a month to go!

You are famous...or well known:thumbsup2 I remember your posts from last year mostly...and AKl...the construction when they were moving folks etc....think you had a split stay or something...

anyway, I ended up booking POp for $65/night..cant beat that, then I will move over to VWL...and be there for the MNSSHP....I have been to POP, so know what to expect, and I did enjoy it. Besides, its a SOLO trip....
will save POFQ for a weekend stay w/DH:)
Thanks

Pop Century is about 1,500 feet from the furthest corner of Building 2 in the 50s to the diagonally opposite corner of the 90s.

No room is more than 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall.

Somebody else will have to measure POFQ for comparison.

We stayed at POFQ 3 years in a row and then Pop last year. We love both resorts, but are going back to Pop in May. POFQ is MUCH smaller & intimate; also a lot quieter. To me, POFQ is sometimes a little too quiet. Both are very nice; the rooms are a little larger at POFQ and closer to things, but to us Pop was more fun & cheaper :) We got lucky and had a preferred room in the 60's building. Our room was not facing the pool, so it was quiet, and was one of the closest buildings to everything. It wasn't a big deal to go refill my mug just like at POFQ :cutie:

Does anyone have any great tips for the POP century. I've heard some ideas about requesting room locations and such. Anything else I should know?

First time at the POP.

POP is not that big. I think you will make many a refill runs on your trip. I know I did.

Sorry, have to disagree....when I was at POR, I had a walk of close to 10 mins to get to the food court from my room...it was waaay out in the back of the resort. I've been as far out as humanly possible at POP and never been more than a 6-7 min walk to the main bldg.
POP is much more spread out that POFQ though. POFQ is pretty compact.
But, I don't think POP is all that spread out...it's just a ton of 4 level bldgs in a compact area. I don't feel crowded in there but it is a different feeling than at the moderates.

Pop is my favorite value resort - I love the frozen coke machine in the dining hall! We love Earl of Sandwich too and DTD isn't too bad a ride from POP - depending on the crowd levels. Have a great time!!
