Anyone ever do this? We have a 2 bedroom suite booked at BLT it sleeps 9. My sister and her 10 yr old decided they want to come too so now we are at 10 ppl total. Is there a way around declaring the 10 yr old or does everyone need a magic band?? We will only be in the room to sleep it seems silly for them to have to pay for another room.

that's a catch 22 cause it's against the law to have over the people limit in a room. Unless one in the group is a infant. Let us know how this turns out for you???

If you have a child under 3, that brings your occupancy to 9 people and you are fine. Otherwise, you risk being kicked out by Disney. While it may seem silly, that's the occupancy rule.

If he isn't on the reservation then his magic band won't be linked to all of yours so he won't have the same FP+ reservations you do. He also won't be allowed to ride rides during extra magic hours.

Occupancy limits are due to fire codes, so it would be illegal.

If you get caught, you could all be kicked out, any days left on your tickets cancelled, dining plan credits cancelled, and you would get no refund.

That said, people post that they break the occupancy rules and get away with it. It's up to you if you want to risk being the party that gets caught or not.

If you are planning to use Magical Express the people not on the reservation will not be able to ride the bus. Also, they would not be able to do any Extra Magic Hours, or be on the dining plan. Not to mention you run the very real risk of being tossed out or made to pay for another room.

I'd tell them you would love to have their company, but there isn't space for them in your room.

I see on another post that you are renting points? If that is true, then you stand to get the person you rented the points from in big trouble. Not good!!! Not the way to repay someone for letting you rent points from them.

Not trying to be snarky or anything, I swear. I have seen this said for years and years on the DIS, but does anyone know of a group actually being "tossed out" because of occupancy? Seems like at most they'd charge you for an extra room.

That said, with things like ME, Dining Plans, Magic Bands and FP+, sneaking an extra person in will be harder than it was before because there is so much more to staying onsite than just a place to sleep.

Also, not trying to be mean, but would you really want 10 people in a space with just 2 bedrooms & I'm assuming 2 bathrooms? I know you said it's basically for sleeping, but still, that's alot of people in a small shared space. You wouldn't have 10 people living & sleeping in a 2 bedroom appartment. My family of 4 barely makes it when we stay in a normal size hotel room. We usually try to get a suite so there's more room. I can't imagine sharing a space with that many. As for Disney, as others have pointed out it's illegal, you can be kicked out, & because of magic bands, etc it's much harder to sneak in any extra people. I agree with the poster who suggested just telling your sister there's no room at the inn (so to speak) & to try & get a room for herself nearby. Less stress, more room!

I saw it happen. Granted the manager was just going to charge this group for an extra room but they refused. And they were very loud about not being ripped off of their hard earned money. Watched them escorted out and heard the manager call for housekeeping to pack up the room clear out their stuff.

Sorry, double post.

OP- I understand you want your sister to come but this plan won't work. Not only is it illegal due to Florida fire code it is also against Disney policy. I do not recommend it. I also imagine this thread will be closed because mods don't allow threads that discuss breaking Disney policy (or the law) as suggested practice.

Well first and foremost I would never want to get the DVC owner in trouble so the idea is already nixed. I didn't realize about the extra magic hours and MDE also so she'll have to find her own way. Thanks all for the input.

Ugh....sounds like no one has ever gone 66 in a 65MPH zone on this thread!
I have done this with friends and we were fine....Where are all these people counting people walking into rooms....
You will be fine no one is going to know the difference between 9 and 10, and stop with the fire code BS...are you really seriously quoting the fire code over 1 12 year old? Get real

LIVE A LITTLE!

They will not be able to place the child on the reservation, which means the child gets:

No Magic Band
No fast pass plus associated with this reservation
No extra magic hours
No Magical Express transportation

And yes, if they do catch you over capacity in your room, they will tell you that you need to purchase a second room.

(I have no jurisdiction on the Resort board so I can't close this thread.)

As an FYI it is against the rules of the Dis to post ways to get around Disney's rules. You appear to be new here, so you may be unaware that the Moderators will not allow threads about breaking any of Disney's rules to be open very long.

Also as the OP has pointed out, they will have other issues--such as the "extra" person not being able to use Magical Express or Extra Magic Hours. It has nothing to do with living a little, but being able to know, understand, and follow rules.

For future reference I believe there are even larger suites at bonnet creek yimeshare complex that can also be rentedvfor even less than the dvc rentals typically run. Good luck, and as u saw, the reality is that with so many facets of a Disney trip and so much of it computerized, really does lead to more rule following.
