I think you should also have:

I'm fine with the policy change and I used to bring a small amount of booze to offset the cost but I still buy some drinks at the bar.

That is us. We would bring some wine and some run onboard but still ordered from the bars pretty regularly.

I know! Just posted this on the other poll!
Wish you wernt limited to just 10 questions!

I agree! But with the limitd options on here and without using a seprate survey site, it was the best i could come up with. Wish I could have added another question....

Somehow I believe that at least one of the powers that be at Disney do read these boards and are interested in public opinion-if not, then I am very disappointed in what Disney has become from what Uncle Walt intended. I always believed he started it to entertain and please the public and cared about their opinions. I hope I haven't been blinded by the pixie dust.

We used to bring on a large bottle of each of our favorite liquors for mixing in-room. We still purchased drinks at the bars/shows because it's convenient. For the most part, it was in inconvenience to return to our room to refill so more often than not we opted to leave our tumblers behind. We only carried our own into an adult show once and felt bad for the servers walking around trying to earn a buck. That's when we decided that we wouldn't carry our own into venues anymore. We have observed almost every time we've been in an adult show where many people carried in their own beverages. The beer in cans & bottles that we know the ship doesn't sell kinda gives some people away. I think THAT sort of thing impacted the bar's sales and would've contributed to the change. I also think DCL isn't eager to leave a buck on the table. Their cruises are sailing full even into the off-season so why not take that opportunity to roll out the bombshell? The way they are implementing this change is WRONG. Those who are inside the penalty period should NOT be subjected to this. Guests should have the opportunity to cancel their cruises if the policy is a deal breaker for them. THAT is a crap deal for sure. Shame on DCL for that.

I'm also curious how many who were planning to book a placeholder or other future cruise while onboard still plan to. I, for one, am thinking I won't. I might. But I'm now leaning towards not doing it. That will be a first.

No placeholder here, we will be looking for more reasonable options on other lines for our next cruise, which will be Alaska!

I was planning on booking a placeholder on the cruise we completed this morning, and I still did. The policy change doesn't affect me much as I never brought alcohol on before and don't drink much or sometimes at all on my cruises. That being said, I also voted that it is for money reasons. They are a business, and they see an area where they can increase their profits. I don't think it was a good idea, though; considering the fact that their line is more expensive, I expect a few more "perks," even if I never intend to use them. It is not a big deal to me for them to strip this one perk, but I worry that they are going to start cutting back on the perks piece by piece.

Check some of the lines that go to Glacier Bay. It is absolutely beautiful, and if you still want to see Tracey Arm, there are boating excursions that will take you there.

Money Grab sounds very harsh. Is it a money grab when movie theaters ban outside food?

Here is the extreme, is it a money grab when a bar bans outside drinks? This is I think the best example, yes its sales but it also controls drunk behavior. Behavior that DCL is responsible for.

Agree these questions are vey very loaded. It's not a scientific poll. Clearly not unbiased.

If you feel more qualified to create a scientific poll given the limited options on the board, please feel free to create your own.
That and make it unbiased, which should be a challenge for you given your previous posts.

How about 'I'm not fine with the policy because I like to carry-on a bottle of liquor (Rumchata) and I'm past my PIF date!' ?

As for re-booking, we did not book a placeholder last year on board due to the much higher prices for 2016, as well as the 18-month booking window (which was changed within weeks after we got off the ship!). We are past our PIF date for October, but I highly doubt we will book a placeholder. DH has been doing research and has found some great alternatives for much less $.

In hindsight I could have kept the poll to just reasons why, but you are still limited to only 10 options on the poll. That and hindsight is a wonderful thing! lol!

Like I said in the other poll. I believe this to be 100% related to profits. I'm not happy about it (As I have an upcoming cruise and already past PIF date), but I understand it, and I'll have to get over it. In the future as I choose cruises this decision by DCL will make a small factor in my decision.

Agree, this is totally about money. Just as the head of NCL said he wanted to figure out the pressure point to squeeze another $5-6 (a day?) out of every passenger, so is Disney-forgetting that they have already squeezed me dry. We have a cruise in November-very excited-but there will be no placeholder bought, since (1) I want to go to Bermuda (2) I want different itineraries-a true Southern would be nice- and (3) I want more clout for my [now] fixed income.

We can all guess as much as we want. But the facts are DISNEY keeps saying we are changing to be in line with other cruise lines. Great now lower your price like other cruise lines.

Don't other cruise lines have gambling? Which is a guaranteed 3% or so of all money gambled. They have to get the money from somewhere.

We don't drink, and I sure as heck wouldn't decide on a cruise based on their alcohol policy even if I did. Lets say they started charging a flat rate for soft drink refills for example - that would suck, but I wouldn't not cruise! What's $50 compared to the overall enjoyment of the cruise?

I suppose some people just spend a whole lot of money on alcohol, but then, those are probably not the people I want catcalling my partner late at night either. ;)
