O.K. I continue to work on this project because I feel the need to know. If anybody else does too, please read on.

I have entered many different dates into the DCL reservations. I see that when there are discounts they are more substantial on higher priced rooms (and I'm also guessing on 7 night trips). I get these prices for 4 day cruises for 2 adults including the insurance and transfers - takes too long to remove them and I figure it doesn't matter as long as I am comparing apples to apples. Easter week 2004 vs 2005 - cat 6 $3140 - $2870, cat 8 $2580 - $2400, cat 11 $2080 - $2000. So, it looks like rates have gone up for this busy week. However, I really want to go in May, and when I compare May 2004 to May 2005, the 2005 rates are HIGHER by anywhere from $40 (cat 11) to $100 (cat 6). So much for that discount.. it is my assumption that this is a less busy time and thus no reason to raise rates as the cruise date nears.

I'll definitely check with some travel agents also, but I don't think the early booking will help me much at this point.

I read the earlier post on this subject, and maybe the issue is the "posted" rates. Because I can tell you when I booked our last cruise through DCL, that one week from my initial call (had to verify family scheduling matters), to the week I actually booked the cruise, the price went up $700 for a quad, cat 4. That cruise was booked a solid 10 months out.

MUCH depends on which cruise you are taking.

Check out the DU or another agency

If you live in Florida use the resident specials

But know that the date you choose for your cruise will greatly determine the price of that cruise.
