More Netflix Rumors

Ugh, I hope not. I love Disney for what it is, but leave Netflix alone. It's already ruined ESPN, no need to do the same to Netflix.

How have they ruined espn? It's not Disney's fault that cable subscribers are leaving.

Well trying my best to keep it apolitical, there's a reason that ESPN's target audience is leaving in droves. Same reason that NFL ratings are down. But I'll admit that I may be overstating it and maybe it has more to do with cable cutters.

ESPN has been performing poorly for over a year now, it definitely has to do with cable cutters.

Which begs the question, would Disney put ESPN shows on Netflix for the cable cutters. Interesting premise if the deal goes through.

On one hand, it's slightly unsettling that Disney is now to the point where all they need to lay hands on now is DC Comics and Nintendo and they'll pretty much own my soul.

On the other hand, it'd be nice to see Netflix brought under Disney's protection. It'd give them some muscle with which to deal with the ISPs

From what I understand this would mean the earlier release and more frequent release of Disney movies onto Netflix which would be really nice

Can't see any real benfit for Disney in doing this. If cord cutters are wanting ESPN then can't they get it individually as a separate product?

Its not a matter of cord cutters wanting ESPN, Disney buying netflix would be for their streaming services.

But isn't most of it already on Netflix and if not can easily be added by future deals without purchasing them? Just seems like a wasteful purchase to me

What do you mean most of it is already on Netflix? ESPN isn't on Netflix, nor are most of Disney's films.

I mean that there's quite a bit of Disney on Netflix and I'm sure they do do deals to add very thing for a lot less than actually buying the company.

Then I wonder how the other studios would feel about their movies going through a competitions service so I reckon Netflix would loose a lot of content in the process

If they are buying it for streaming does that mean that they will stream more than just movies? Stuff from espn?

I don't feel Netflix is really the format for most ESPN programming. They do have 30 for 30's which are already on Netflix but live sports, Sportscenter, their daily talk shows are meant to be consumed almost immediately as they cover day-to-day sports.
