More MP3/Ipod questions - video?

My daughter really wants an Ipod for Christmas and DH thinks we should go ahead and just get her the 30 GB version (she is only 11, so I worry that's a lot of money on one gift for her!). We saw that you can download video (specifically Zack and Cody and Raven) and since we had planned on getting her a portable DVD player for our trips down to Disney, he thought this way she gets the Ipod and we can still keep her occupied on the road.

After a long explanation (sorry!) what I am asking is this: are there any other MP3 players that you can download tv shows/movies to? I know Disney has the contract with Apple, so they wouldn't be Disney shows, and that they would be just as expensive, but would the selection of shows be greater?

Any input here would be appreciated. Christmas is fast approaching and I am going CRAZY trying to make a decision on this!

We just bought our daughter the IPOD Video 30G for her 12th birthday and she loves it. Whenever we go for a car ride/ trip she takes it with and she doesn't have to cart around all the cd's, it is so convenient. Whenever i am at home relaxing I use it!! I did have to buy different earphones because the ones that came with were awful and went to crap right away!
Cant help you with info on any other MP3's because this is the first one any of us owned. Highly recommend this one though.

Bought two this season...One for our 18 yo whose off to college in January. The other for our 15 yo who is completely obsessed with Apple! He is also getting a book that I order online at Barnes & Noble that is titled "Cool stuff you can do with your IPOD". Haven't tried one myself, but I've talked with many people who absolutely love theirs.

Just wanted to add in case you didn't know... make sure that you get the Education discount that you can get on their website at www.apple.com. Click on the Education tab at the top of the homepage... then click on the highlighted "education discount" linked words in the first paragraph then click on one of the next 2 options- K - 12 or college/university... search by zip code and select school and click on the AGREE button and VIOLA... the prices have automatically been discounted to show the available discount. the headphones with it, are actually some of the best ear buds you can get. also, there really isn't anything better in quality then an ipod, and its trendy.

I would recommend the iPod. I love my older 40gb
The only potential problem I could think of with the Ipod Video is that the screen size is kind of small.

The only other video player that comes to mind would be the Sony PSP, but I don't know how hard it is to get videos for it.

We love our PSP for what you get and what you can get it to do you really can't beat it .Only down side is it's bigger then the IPod and is limited by storage memory sticks are very expensive so you have to carry all the UMD's for games and movies with you.Once they come with TV adapter they will be best deal on the market.

I looked into trying to download iPod video to play on my pda/cell phone/mp3 player..etc.

Apple has all kinds of copyright protection that even the best hackers out there can't crack..in other words...Apple video plays on Apple products only. So...even though I have the fancy thing...I really want the iPod.

I think the videos can be played on a notebook computer using QuickTime...but has to be played on the computer it was purchased on.....so I would get a notebook instead of the portable DVD player...since notebooks can play them already!
