I've heard about getting your child's first haircut on Main Street, but what about older kids...(2 and 5)...is it any extra fun and/or exciting for them too? Anybody done it? What do you think?

Yup, we did that one too. After the baby's haircut was so successful, we went back and DH and other DS got their hair cut. There was no time before vacation and they both really needed it!! They offer colored hair gel...they will put it all over or use it to make Mickey ears in your hair. They also offer pixie dust which is basically Mickey ears confetti that will stick to the hair gel. It washes out easily with shampoo. It's just another fun thing to do at the World!!

They are great with older kids and adults too.. My son was 11 for his haircut and my daughter was 10 when she got hers cut.
Plan on taking my 2 year old foster baby for her first haircut in a few weeks.
They give the older kids stickers and plastic jewelry. And also the colored gel and "pixie dust".

My granddaughter got her first haircut at MK ... she was 5½!!! Maura was great with her and Cissy rec'd at the first haircut goodies ... special "ears", certificate and a photo op!!!

Both her and her older brother love getting their haircut at Disney. Here's a photo of William taken in January 2004 after getting a special "do" courtesy of Michael:

He's grandad was going to get a matching haircut, but the barbershop was busy, so he didn't.

So this is not only for boys/men and not only for first time haircuts????

I was wondering if this was something that we could do with DD4 and DD2. Sounds like maybe it is!

Oh cool! I know my girls would get a kick out of this! Does anyone know what their prices are?

I am not 100% sure on this but I believe I have seen $12 kids and $15 adults around the boards.

We are going next week and my 9 month old will be getting his first haircut there and my 4 year old DS is also due for a haircut so we are waiting until we get there to have his done too! And well then I know my 8 yo DD will definetly want her's done, and well maybe mom and dad will be brave and get ours done too, imagine us all decked out with green hair and pixie dust and my 4 yo with a birthday pin!

Do you have to make an appointment or just walk in?

TIA
Jaci

We did this on my DS's 3rd B-day. It was my 2 BIL's, 1 SIL, DH, DS, Me and My nephew and my DD had their first hair cuts. WE just walked in and waited. Ds got to choose and so we all walked around the park with blue hair and my BIL and fam walked around with green hair. DS remembers it still to this day and he had a blast!

I would defiantely recommend for everyone to do it at least once with their kids. It is a really fun expirience. (And the only time my kids will ever be allowed to have blue hair while they live with me!);)

My SIL just got the gel, and I had my hair in a french braid, so I had them trim my bangs and they put the gel around the braid. I plan on doing this again when we are there for my DD's 3rd b-day..and then in 2006 for my DH's 30th!
