My mom (young 70 yr. old), myself (40 yr. old mom) and my son (18 yr.old) will be in San Diego for 2 nights in April. I am having the hardest time picking a hotel. I find one and then go to TripAdvisor and half hate it and half love it.

Here is what I am looking for:

1- Clean
2- Safe
3- Walking distance or on a swimmable beach
4- Under $200 a night (with AARP)
5- Close to restaurants/attractions/ or something (we will have a rental car)
6- Clean/Safe

Thank you for any help or suggestions-

I have never benn to SD, but we are staying at the Embassy Suites San Diego bay, on
trip advisor, it has great reviews, close to lots of attractions as well as the trolley. It may be around the 200.00 range, you do get full cooked to order breakfast and 2 rooms, which is always nice.

Due to the wildfires, i was evacuated and forced to stay in some hotels. The hotels downtown are all very nice and some of the hotels on interstate 8 in hotel circle you should check out.

We just got back from SD tonight after a week's vacation there. I went with DH, DD3 adn DD5 and my MIL. We were going to stay in a hotel, but found that it would be really expensive, more expensive than we wanted to spend. So we ended up renting a hosue in Mission beach for a week. The house was 3 bedrooms, so the girls had one room, my MIL had one and DH and I had one. A lot of the rental homes only rent for a week at a time, but some will do it by the night. If you'd like info on how to find these houses, let me know and I'll give websites (and more info on the place we stayed.)

San Diego was absolutely wonderful!! I miss it already!

We just returned from 6 days in San Diego, and enjoyed our hotel on Hotel Circle South. We stayed at the Residence Inn Mission Valley, and it was close to the freeway's and easy to get to and from. They have free breakfast daily, and a managers reception Mon-Thurs evening. They have one and two bedroom suites with a living room and kitchen. Our rate was AAA and was $189 per night.
