Here are the latest pics. I did not get much gingerbread time this week as I have been on call, but I did get time to put the finishing touches on the rocking chair and rocking horse and to get "lights" on the Christmas Tree. The lights are done in candy coated sunflower seeds. The tree is also coated in a food coloring and corn syrup glaze. In the pictures you can see the spots I missed due to the flash of the camera, but in person it looks better than it does in the pictures. Also, excuse the slight blur....they were taken with Lisa's phone camera.

Look at the detail on the tree!! Those chocolate covered sunflower seeds look like real christmas lights!
Keep up the good work!

so impressed!!

we went 2 years ago, just happened to be at the hotel walking around looking at decorations when people were bringing their houses in. I sweet talked our way in (told them we were from out of town and wouldnt be back--which was true!) and had such a great time looking at the ones that were there.

Hope to go back this time legally (lol). When is it, and do they charge to go in to see the houses??

thanks!

How cool! No, they do not charge to view the houses, but they do severely limit public viewing. Public viewing is Mon-Thurs only. The weekends are for hotel guests. They do offer the "Stories of Gingerbread" tour....$10 per person and that will get you a chance to view the houses up close and personal. I highly recommend it.

I cannot wait to see your finished product. You do an amazing job!

That looks amazing!!! You have done a terrific job! I just love seeing these. I wanna go over there so badly!

That is amazing - especially the tree they look like real lights. Can't wait to see it all finished. You are very talented!

I love the lights! They look great!

BTW - talked to DD and she said not this year! She has too much going on getting adjusted to middle school...but she said we are a yes for next year. she said that gives us time to really figure out what we want to do and play with the recipe this Christmas on a smaller scale. But we are still going to try to get up there so I will let you know when or if we do!

Kim,

Coming to see them will give you all sorts of ideas....from materials, to design, and in some cases...what not to do! I would love to go and visit them with you, so be sure to let me know when you are coming.

Wow that tree is fantastic! I love the detail and the lights look great. Good idea with the candy coated sunflower seeds. The colors are spot on! The horse has to be my favorite so far. So stinking cute.

Beautifully decorated :thumbsup2:thumbsup2! I can't begin to imagine the patience required! :goodvibes

Beautiful! What is used to make the tree itself?

Those Christmas tree lights are fantastic!

Any tips for someone who wants to just make a pretty (and simple) gingerbread house? Your houses from last year were so neat and I love this years creations. I know I could NEVER make anything nearly as cool as yours but any tips you had on how to make a basic pretty house would be great!
