View from Neuschwanstein

Hohenschwangau Castle was built by dad King Ludwig. Looking at it from Neuschwanstein. Both castles can be toured- highly recommended.

There was scaffolding on Hohenschwangau so it was hard to get nice shots of it. Our hotel was within walking distance to both castles. You could also catch a horse and buggy up to Neuschwanstein if you want. We walked. Sorry for the blown out sky. Still learning!

Great pictures! When I was in Germany we did not go to that area. Germany is incredibly beautiful, it's nice to see some pictures that really do it justice! (Mine didn't! )

We cheated- we took the tram up to the Zugspitze.

Schlosshotel Lisl is where we stayed in Schwangau- you can see both castles from it. It faces Hohenschwangau- a 5-10 minute walk. 30 minute walk up hill to Neuschwanstein. Very nice hotel. We didn't have ressies- just picked it when we drove into town. There is a nice lake within 5 mins walk- and more walking trials. Beautiful area. We would have loved to stay another day but we wanted to be back in Italy in 2 days. If you look very closely at the left edge of the hotel picture- about midway- you can see Neuschwanstein- barely.(the bit of white just above the bus)
