More $$$ for only 1 adult in a room?

When I was trying to book a room for 2 adults the total was around 1900, when I made it for one person the cost only dropped by 200. So, if I was sharing a room it would cost me 1000, but since I am not it costs me 1700. Why is that? My cousin and her partner and young son are traveling with me- they are obviously getting their own room- should I try to book one of them with me- to make my cost go down, or would that make their per person cost increase?
This is so confusing!

Again, it shouldn't be doing that. Disney charges the same for 1 or 2 adults.

I assumed the slight difference was for the tickets- we did have them added on.

Would it be better for them to pretend one of them is staying with me? I don't want to increase their per person costs, but I would love to save 700!!!

The $316 was including tax. The WDW website includeds taxes in their hotel prices. The "†" symbol is the reference to check the very bottom of the page where the footnote is "† Total Room Price includes tax."

Not always. In one "session" I did two different searches for very different dates. For one date it showed me the full price on the "main" search page. On the next date it showed me the pre-tax page. Same day, same hour, no leaving the computer and coming back...

The website remains incredibly inconsistent and obnoxious.

When you request a quote, you first get this page. When you click on View Price Per Night for a standard room, it shows the price for each night as $158 dollars, which comes out to $316 for both nights. When you click on Add to Cart, it then shows the total as $357.08.

Now when I checked through the spring offer, I did get a screen that showed $315 for the price for a preferred room for those two nights with the " " symbol and at the bottom of the page it said that the price included tax.

I do not use that page. I use this page. When I go to the main WDW web page, I just go straight to the bottom of the page and click on "Vacation Packages" and then I click on "Room+Tickets" and the on the page I reference, I click on "Room Only".

If you do not mind giving use the hotel and dates you are trying to book, we can try and see what might be happening. Also, what kind of tickets? It would help use to see so that way if we are in the similar situations, we can make sure to check that we are getting the correct pricing when staying solo.

September 25-October 6, All Star Movie was the original quote- although the rest of my party is too fancy to stay there- they are actually staying at the Caribbean, so I will probably stay there too, now that I lost my roommate and we are hoping for a discount.

The quote included tickets as well.

That page that you linked is for the spring offer, which I agree, does show the price with tax. However, when I click on the Vacation Package link at the bottom of the main page, and then click on Room + Tickets, it still takes me to the spring offer page. I got to the page I linked by putting in the dates and the hotel preference in the Price Your Vacation bar at the top of the main page.

I had to clear my internet options to get the non-discounted to come up. I forgot to do that before inputting the link. This one should work: Corrected link.

I just did quotes without tickets since I didn't know how many days of tickets you wanted or if you wanted park hopping or water park fun and more options, and I got a quote of $1308.54 for standard and $1507.42 for preferred, and it didn't matter if I put in 1 or 2 adults.

ASMo Standard Room 9/25/13 - 10/6/13 with 10 Day Base Tickets:
  • 1 Adult: $1648.61
  • 2 Adults: $1988.68
Difference $340.07

CBR Standard Room 9/25/13 - 10/6/13 with 10 Day Base Tickets:
  • 1 Adult: $2585.59
  • 2 Adults: $2925.66
Difference $340.07

10 Day Base Ticket: $338.67

So, it should not matter on being 1 or 2 people.

It doesn't surprise me that some people have heard from CMs that it's less expensive to have 2 in a room and more expensive for 1, its just a misunderstanding somewhere. At this time, its only less expensive for 2 in a room if they are actually splitting the room cost :)

The only thing that's for sure is it takes work to get a deal on a Disney room :lmao: Who knows, it may someday be as hard as getting a deal on airfare  Thank goodness its not there yet!
