More DC cabana questions

My DH and I will be renewing our vows to each other in DC (just the two of us) and plan on doing it in or around our cabana. I talked to DC and they said our cabana boy (yes it will be a boy, LOL) can take photos for us. :goodvibes

We definitely don't want a crowd watching or in the photos; is the cabana area private enough? I will also be wearing a white summer dress to DC, hope to do our renewals right away, then change to swim gear. Can I change in the cabana (is there curtains or anything?)

Last question may sound a bit vain... but is there a mirror? I know I'll want to reapply mascara throughout the day since I have no eyes without it, LOL

Congrats on the renewal.

There is minimal privacy, but it is really great. Here are a few photos I took of our cabana last year. You will see there is no way to pull the curtains back or anything like that; not with full coverage anyway. Also, there isn't a mirror but there are huge ones in the locker room.

I would call our cabana person more of a "cabana man" though. He was great. They make sure you have everything you need, clean up the sand and bring fresh towels all the time.

May I ask a personal question?

Did you pay $179.00 or so for just a cabana or did you buy a special occasion package for $229.00 or so?

While it is a cabana, the lack of privacy is quite pronounced.

I am wondering if you book a special occasion package you get the more secluded cabanas.

I appreciate the photos and info, thank you!

That definitely isn't what I was thinking - I thought they would be more secluded, nestled in the trees and tucked away from the crowds. I saw a video on youtube (Cabana Cribs or something like that) and the one shown was more private, so I thought they were all like that.

I did book the Celebration package with the cabana and requested a very private one when I talked to DC and told them of our vow renewal; I'm really hoping that holds some water. :worried:

Jenny-We booked a cabana earlier in August and it was more secluded than the pictures posted by Tiffiny. I requested a cabana overlooking Dolphin Lagoon hoping to get a more private cabana than the newer ones located near the Reef. DC took my information request and stated they tried to accommodate requests as much as possible. I stated that I would probably be disappointed if assigned near the Reef. When we checked in and escorted to our cabana, I was very happy with the location which was near the Starfish side of Dolphin Lagoon. It was surrounded by lush foliage and had a private gate which lead to our private area. Both sides of our cabana were adjacent to other private cabanas however the foliage provided plenty of privacy. There was no mirror in the cabana area.

That is good to hear, thank you! That is more what I was thinking of... is that type only in the Dolphin area? I think I will call them tomorrow just to be sure they have my request in. :)

I was googling photos and came across this one - is this like yours?

We also had a much more private cabana. We could sit and watch the Dolphin Swim going on from ours but unless you were on that side of the cabana no one could see you. We had booked a Dolphin Swim package, cabana and all the extras -- it was DD's 13th birthday party. Our Cabana Man was great and made sure we had everything we wanted.

Congrats on your vow renewal. Hope your day is as incredible as my DD's was.

I did pay for the celebration package...it was about $230 or so. It's my understanding that if you have a celebration package then you're near the reef but if you purchase a cabana on its own then you are by the dolphin area. I'm not 100% on that though.

Those over by the dolphin area appear more private, but they look to be the same otherwise.

The photo other photo posted is of a "hut" where groups meet in order to watch a video before the dolphin interaction. As far as I'm aware there are no cabanas that look like that.

I hope this is helpful.

Jenny-The picture of the Sand Dollar Cabana is a cabana that people meet in to begin their dolphin experiences. There is also Starfish Cabana and SeaHorse Cabanas for this purpose. From what I saw, all of the private cabanas are the same type, which are the green, approx 10x10, covered structures. I really liked having our private locker right there with us, that saved us a lot of walking back and forth to the locker area. We booked the Celebration Package. Our cabana attendant was very helpful. He brought a basket of snacks, kept fresh towels stocked, swept the flooring each time we left, brought us a bucket of ice, kept us stocked with beer :-) all day. We did think it was worth it especially since the package included t-shirt, picture frame, backpack, 6x8photo, buoy delivered by dolphin, 25%off premium photo package.

We had a celebration package cabana last week and it was on the grand reef, BUT, we were kind of hidden behind a large rock structure which was kind of nice. The lifeguard sat on the other side of the rock. It was definately the most secluded of the 3 or 4 cabanas on the reef. I didn't take any photos, never even dawned on me, but that cabana would offer a bit more privacy. The restrooms were not that far away either if you need a bathroon run :)

I really do appreciate the info! Our day at DC is the day we are looking forward to the most, and the cabana is pretty important since we are using it for more than just lounging :)

Can anyone explain how you get your cabana once you're there? If you don't like where it is, can you switch? (or even cancel?) Will getting there earlier help at all?

When I booked it with DC, the rep and I were both looking at the map; there appears to be a cabana to the left of the Dolphin pool that is all alone (not in cluster of 3); that's the one I requested since it seemed the most private.

Once you get there and get checked in, you go to Guest Services to get hooked up with your cabana. We just let them know we were there and then went and grabbed breakfast across the walkway at Laguna Grill and then went back to GS to be escorted to our cabana.

If you pull up the map and make it big, we had the one on the Grand Reef, right next to the Sea Venture Hut and as I said before, behind that rock. I RARELY saw people even walk by, but that is because they would only be going behind the cabana to the Sea Venture Hut. No on EVER crossed in front of our cabana because it the last one in the row, and again, hidden behind that rock structure, so there was no reason for people to even go there. I thought it was pretty secluded. I never even noticed the people in the cabana next to us other than one time. I think and I could be wrong, but there are "curtains" tied to the 4 posts of the cabana. They may be just for looks, but if you really want privacy, I'm guessing if they are "working curtains" you could let them loose. :confused3

Don't take this the wrong way, but with all this privacy concern, I'm beginning to wonder what else might be going on in that cabana :lmao:

Well, if DH had his way, there would be... ;) :lmao:

In all seriousness, I'm a cheesy kind of girl and have this beautiful picture in my head of the vow renewal...white dress, blue sky, flower in my hair, dolphins jumping in the background...you know, that postcard picture perfect photo that probably will not happen, LOL. We are just private kind of people and want to enjoy the quiet since this is our first vacation alone since our honeymoon.

Just talked to DC again and had them add some notes to our reservation. Fingers crossed we get the one we want! They said they would do everything possible to accommodate us :thumbsup2

Hi when we went we had a very private cabana and it was south 1 so it might be worth asking for this one. Can't see why you couldn't change in it as it was well covered in with greenery and could only see out the front .Hope this helps :-)

Hi i have managed to enlarge the map you sent me and think I have found it but a bit difficult to explain where it is if you pm me your email i could email it over to you with the canbana highlighted if thats any help :)
