More Cutbacks/Changes at Universal

Even if no one else has said it, I really appreciate the fact that, as a UO employee, you post on here. You bring a great perspective to the whole UO experience.
Thanks.

Awwww! Sappy moment :) Nah, I completely agree. It's really neat to be able to hear from and share things with employees (and I hope it doesn't BACKFIRE in my case...but I highly doubt that would happen :) )

Flyfly, the only thing *I* would do would be to try and find out what you look like, get a pic of you, and through my Connections, have that picture in the area where the Ghostbusters hide out. This way they'll be able to identify you instantly. :p

ksdave-Thanks. I love giving out information and helping better the experience. I do it all the time at work, even if it's info on something you wouldn't expect from an oridanry employee.

Can I accidentally on purpose send one to you? LOL jk :p

Edited: Oh wait, would you portray me as an obsessed psycho, or just really really devoted? Makes all the difference you know...even if they really mean the same thing....LOL

It can be arranged. I just have to find out if my Connections (one plays Shaggy, the other plays Crash Bandicoot, two others play in the Horror Make-Up Show) know any of the Ghostbusters. Hehe.:smooth:

lol! :p What on earth would I be getting myself into?

I'd be truthful: tell them that you're their biggest fan, how you try to catch every of their shows, etc. I wouldn't tell about the 10 rolls of film, though. What they do from there, is up to them.

:p yeah...good idea...though a couple of them already saw I had 64 pictures in a photoalbum I carried with me inside the park... :o though maybe they forgot about that.........

...maybe

You never know. Some experiences with guests become fun memories, while others fade nto oblivion. If this happens, you can be referred to as The Fan, and some would be able to instantly recongize you and could possibly say "Hey Clare."

That would be so cool :p

The whole laying off of entertainers and hour cutbacks are due to Vevendi getting out of Universal. The park is in the process of being bought by another company so Vevendi cuts back on cost to bring its overhead revenue up to make it seem good on paper. The truth is the parks are doing very well in attendance Vevendi is getting out so the want to take as much revenue as possible which means cutting jobs and park hours. Believe me I know!!:smooth:

Heeeeeeeey!! Is that how you see me!

What a reputation I have gotten on this board! lol!! :p

Hopefully the buyer(s) of Universal will read this board frequently.
'Tis the season we start heading down more, and really hate seeing fewer & less of "everything" just because it's the so-called off-season.
Hotel rates don't drop that drastically, yet we'll come (and spend in the restaurants & bars & gift shops). Oughtta at least get some nite rides on Dueling Dragons.... mini-vent over.

I agree with everyone that would like to see the park open at night! I really feel it would make many feel less upset with the cutbacks if they gave us ONE late evening! I wouldnt mind having the park open later if it meant we could experience an evening at Universal/IOA! 5 and 6P closing is soooooo too early! I do understand the need but would it cost more to have the same total hours...just changed around one evening a week? We tend to be there off season mostly so we never get to see the park at night. When we were there for Mardi Gras this past March it was awesome to be in the parks after dark. I bet if they could come up with some plan to have the park open late it could benefit them greatly. If Disney and Seaworld is closed and they are open...with a great marketing ploy in that direction how could it not be profitable? Oh well I guess its just wishful thinking.

No stealing my ideas out of my head! :p

I cannot imagine that it would cost them anything more in labor costs to be open the same number of hours, just later. The only slight cost increase I could understand would be for electricity, but that wouldn't be much more than the lights and stuff they already have on for the cleaning crews.
JessicaR is so right on the marketing thing. Show a couple of teens looking bored with some mouse ears on their head, pulling out of a huge parking lot at 6:00 PM while it is still light out, then show them all wired up riding the Hulk at night. Tag line could say, "When the mouse sleeps, we rock".

oh that is just too clever! I like it! :)

But then, would they be able to find enough employees to work the odd hours?

I like that line!!!!! Now make sure you get the rights on it...lol:D

If done on weekends (Friday/Saturday 730-11p), they would be able to get a lot of their "still in high school" employees a few hours. Done right, it could be extremely successful. Have it be during a slow season, offer day ticket upgrades and a low cost for night tickets ($30 max), and LIMIT TICKET QUANTITIES. My idea was for them to only allow maybe 10,000 people per park on the nights. Something to keep the lines low. Of course, my idea went into more detail, but I'll keep that part secret. Well, it also depends what month said event would take place. In January, it'd be COLD at night. Same with Feb. November wouldn't be too bad, but Grinchmas starts then and the Turkey Day weekend is always busy. Hmm...

And ksdave, that tagline is great!
