I spoke with Chef Peter at Ohana ( I have a gluten allergy, so he had to spend a lot of time at my table) and he said the menu is undergoing major changes on 9/15. No more shrimp skewers, pork carved at table, and a possible wider selection of desserts. They want to make it more "upscale". I thoroughly enjoyed my meal there on 9/3, and loved Chef Peter. He reads these boards, so let him know what you like! I can't remember all the changes, but I do know they're major.

I heard they were taking the wontons off the menu. I hope this is only a rumor. I was really looking forward to trying them in NOV. ::MinnieMo

Why mess with a good thing? I love the coconut-pineapple bread, not that's gone. My DH loves the skewered shrimp. I know they're going to keep the shrimp, but part of the charm is the skewers being brought to your table.

And the pineapple and caramel - I LOVE that, don't let it slip away!

Since I have an Ohana ADR upcoming, how did they do on the gluten free front? I've been putting off my advance phone call with all the menu changes...

dawnball, they do an awesome job on gluten free. He makes the skewers on a special part of the grill, checks all the side items for problem ingredients, and makes you your own version of the side item if it's not ok. He made my chicken wings with an orange citrus sauce that was outstanding. DO call him in advance, because he will converse with you and find out what you like. I was so tired of creme brulee as a GF dessert that he got me a white chocolate mousse from Kona that was to die for. He kept watching over my table so the servers didn't bring me an "ordinary" skewer. The marinades on some of the meats aren't GF, so he has to make them special. Rely on Peter! He's very good at what he does! :cool1:

Excellent, thank you so much. I'd been worried about that one, but my sister really wanted to go. I'll give them a call tommorrow (and Le Cellier, since I hear they can do a gluten free cheese soup!). I'm getting excited about the food again. ;)
