This time to waitlists.

I have always had good luck with making 2 seperate waitlists when trying to add 2 nights to a current reservation. In the past, if my reservation ended on the 6th (fictitious dates for example only), and I wanted the 7th and 8th, I found more success in creating a waitlist for each individual night. Many times the 8th would become available, then the 7th at a later date. It is easier to fill 1 night than 2 right?

Well, you can no longer do this. I have to place both nights together on a single waitlist. Those who know me, know that I am not one to complain as I always try to maintain a positive position. But I had to tell the cast member today that over the past 2 years, there seems to be more things you can't do at DVC than there are things you can.

My rant is over. Thanks for lisitening.

But that isn't new as of today, Dave, correct? I've seen people state for a while that you had to waitlist consecutive nights as one, if I'm remembering right.

But I agree that the whole 2 waitlist thing is frustrating to me (not the same as your complaint, I know).

I know that you know the rule about calling back several times until you get a consensus from several different Advisers. :thumbsup2

I figure that they are training us to call several times in preparation to charge us a fee for calling MS. :goodvibes

We will send you the bill....j/k :lmao:

I'll be watching for it. Do you take checks?

It is to me. I was told (by a well experienced CM) that they no longer did single nights. Have I been lucky in the past? I had just pasted together a ressie in December.

You are probably correct. Not like they don't speak with me enough in one day as it is. Go figure.

It does appear to be variable, I have also had luck creating overlapping waitlists (like for a friday and for both friday and saturday) since the matching system appears to pick up longer reservations first sometimes if both nights are available.

I wonder when this change was implemented? In February I did this exact thing for our upcoming trip and the CM didn't tell me I couldn't do it. Shockingly, the 3 night WL came through instead of the 1 night WL for the same time period. :cutie:

We hit the same problem also. We need 1/6 and 1/7 for 2012 and they insisted we do a single waitlist for two nights and since you have to have both night come available at the same time to fill the waitlist we doubt we will get it. So it is not something new but is highly frustrating.

How about just wait listing the 6th, and then if that comes though, then wait list the 7th?

I could, but the 6th may not become available for several months and then my new wailist for the 7th could be at the bottom of the pile. As it is, I've listed for the 6th and 7th together.

Maybe the CM listed the 3-night WL first and then the 1-night WL. That would be the way to do it to prevent you from blocking yourself from getting all three nights if they all became available at once due to a cancellation. Otherwise if those 3 nights become available and the first match is against your 1 night, it would fill that and then the remaining nights would be unable to match with your 3-night WL.

Ditto... :thumbsup2 I asked about wait listing them separately but they said they can't do that as they are consecutive days and under the same reservation. Then we considered doing the 6th first and when that came in did the 7th but with our luck and the fact the 6th is a Thursday we were concerned that it may not come though. We plan to call at the 7mo window and just take those two days anyplace we can but let the wait list stand until they cancel it themselves. I figured we have nothing to lose plus it gives us a chance to see another resort.

daddio you must have been lucky before with those wl. I was always told consecutive days are 1 WL.

We now have 2 WLs going . We need Sun and Mon nts to finish our 5 nts in OCT Our WLs are

1) for a Sun and Mon ( 2nts) to add to our tues-wed-thurs

2) just Monday (1)nt that way we could get at least 4 nts in a row.

I ask them to cancel WL #2 if #1 comes through. CM says no problem and noted on request.

perhaps a work around would be to book the middle portion and then add the 2 extra days at the end on 2 waiting lists.
ex. book days 2-7 and then book 1 and 8 on two separate waiting lists.

When they eliminated the day-by-day waitlist option I assumed it was to eliminate disjointed reservations. If someone ends up staying 4 nights here, one night somewhere else then back to the original resort for a night, more full cleanings are required, raising costs. Allowing us to use our two WLs to list a 2-night WL as two 1-night WLs amounts to the same thing. It sounds like they are looking to close that loophole or maybe it's just another case of "it depends on the CM you get when you call".
