Lady in White: Do not adjust your computer screen. Nicole Kidman is, in fact, this slim. The Oscar-winning style icon is looking fabulous but frail at the "Cold Mountain" premiere in a peek-a-boo white Ungaro pantsuit. While this wrap outfit was far more revealing on the runway, baring loads of cleavage and midriff, Kidman demurely covers up by cinching the ensemble's crisscrossing scarves. As usual, the megastar finds the perfect accessories, choosing gold hoop earrings and multiple long gold strands with a harmonizing gold and jade-hued necklace.
Cha-Ka Gone: For anyone who's ever wondered what happened to little Cha-Ka from "Land of the Lost," we have your answer: Lara Flynn Boyle has skinned him and is wearing him as some sort of sick trophy. The actress makes the scene at Playboy's 50th Anniversary Celebration in New York in a ferociously frightful fur coat that probably weighs more than she does. Of course, that teeny-tiny clutch in Lara's hand probably weighs more than she does, but you get the idea. Boyle pairs the hideous hide with tuxedo pants, a white t-shirt, and lips so full that it looks like she's gnawing on two pieces of raw liver (oh, poor Cha-Ka!).
Hot and Cold: For your consideration, we present two power couples at the "Last Samurai" premiere. On the left, we have Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz, who have been dating for a couple years but still look as uncomfortable as a couple of teenagers on a chaperoned first date. Even their clothes are a bit standoffish, with a close-cropped Tom donning all-black, including a "Shaft"-esque leather blazer, and Penelope matching his dark mood in a lace-trimmed Ungaro strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. On the other end of the sartorial and stiffness spectrum are Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, whose easy style (her gorgeous Gucci leather trenchcoat; his casual jeans and color-coordinated shirt and coat) and body language (notice how she leans into her hubby and both smile broadly) imply both openness and warmth. Tom and Pen: brrrrrr. Will and Jada: awwwww.
Baby on Board: Gwyneth Paltrow looks sleek and sexy in a flapperific silk and satin black dress from pal Stella McCartney, which provides the perfect camouflage for her expanding belly (this pic was snapped just days before she announced she's expecting). The dainty frock's cascading layers are perfect for hiding a growing bump, which Gwyn revealed a few days later on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. The Oscar-winning actress, her hair flatteringly side-swept and her eyes sultrily smoky, accessorizes with gorgeous Boucheron diamond earrings and, of course, that becoming maternal glow.
Beyond the Pale: At the "Cold Mountain" premiere, White Stripes frontman Jack White channels both Tony Soprano and Gary Oldman in "Dracula" in this ruby-red three-piece pinstriped thrift store suit. The rocker takes the color scheme to the extreme, coordinating his suit to both his shoes and his lips, and balancing a matching fedora atop his jet-black neo-modern page boy 'do. Meanwhile, we're more than a little creeped out that Jack's white tie spookily matches the sickly pallor of his skin. Sweetie, it's called sun -- try it.
Side-Splitting: Selma Blair channels her vampish side in a slit-to-the-limit black frock with side cut-outs and a v-shaped neckline. The "Cruel Intentions" starlet finishes her stunning look with a severe bob (we think it works on her), gold sandals, and ruby red lips. Selma's dazzlingly healthy appearance is a wonderful change from those not-so-distant days of protruding collar bones and skinny-minny arms. The actress recently got engaged to Ahmet Zappa after a whirlwind romance, and it seems that love definitely agrees with her.
Peet-ering Out: Amanda Peet crash lands at the "Something's Gotta Give" premiere in an outfit that just screams, "Please sir, may I have some more?" But if she's looking for an additional piece of this dated ragamuffin wear, we urge her to reconsider. The fashion-challenged actress disastrously mixes this unflattering, antiquated quilted coat with black stockings and t-strap round-toed shoes. These clothes deserve to be banished to the back to grandma's closet, never to be seen on the red carpet -- or anywhere else -- ever again.
