more birthday party drama

update---Jessica and Victoria did not show up, so I worried for nothing. My girls had a great time as did the other the girls that came. We had one no show--oh well, she missed out on having a good time. Next year we are going way simpler!
General observation on life: The things I think are going to hurt me, NEVER DO. It's the things I don't see coming that kick me in the butt.

She's 7. :guilty: Unless she has a history of burning down buildings or something, why not let her come? You have the room left, right?

ETA: Nevermind - I see this is already over.
I wouldn't pay $25 for a child whom my daughter really didn't like.

Great!:goodvibes All that stressing and neither showed. I'd definitely do a home party next year with just a couple of close friends. I'm doing a Tinker Bell tea party for my DD6 at home with just a handful of friends. And I know the moms already so no worries over extra uninvited guests! So glad to hear everything worked out and your girls had a great time! That's what it's all about.:goodvibes

ETA: I've asked my kids in the past what kind of party they'd like to have. We've done bowling, gymnastics, Chuck E. Cheese and the movie theater. Hands down they all want to stay home and have just a couple of close friends over. I thought it was interesting that they'd prefer a simpler, low key party at home. That makes my job a whole lot easier!

Something I started doing with birthday parties that worked WONDERS: On the invitation I gave the date but omitted either the time or the location. This meant that people HAD TO CALL if they planned to attend. They couldn't just show up.

I read this here and did it for dd's 6th bday last month. It was wonderful. I had the right amount of gift bags, cupcakes, etc. I learned that the hard way when I had 12 rsvps one year but 23 kids show up...some of them with siblings...I was like wth!?!
