I accomplished smelling nice, packing my lunch, and planning this week's lessons. So, my goals for the night are complete. Well, I didn't do my homework for my Wednesday night class which was a goal but that was really way too much planning in advance for a PJ. So, night, y'all. Sweet dreems.
:grouphug:

I wouldn't know about Hungarian ghoulash because I've never had it before ;)

Mine is similar to yours but I can't stand my friend's stew because it is made with canned potatoes and peas in it. Yuck!

No canned potato shall ever enter my stew!! Nor a pea! Now I do LIKE peas, but not in a stew. I like green beans in a stew though.

Ok, I need to retire so I can go shopping and do cooking......... This going to work stuff is getting really old!

Sandy, I love beef! Not with noodles though, I prefer it with dumplings and potatoes and celery and onions and carrots. And lots of gravy. Unfortunatly, nobody else does, so i havent had any in a couple of years.
That and chili. My DH are DD are on a health kick, so its chicken and fish all the time......... beurk!!!

George will be be fine in his natural habitat. He tries to climb out of his plastic box.

At the rate things are going, it might be 5 years anyway...........

I need additional clarification. I still don't think I understand. SO it's beef stew that you put on top of noodles? Please forgive me but you must keep in mind that I have never in my 22 year life eaten beef or pork, so I am not familiar with things like beef stew.

Goulash is much the same minus the veggies and dumplins.

Meat and onions in gravy basically, served over noodles or potatoes, but spicey!

My DD is cooking for he BF almost daily now, but I dont think that is in her repertoire either, LOL

HUNGARIAN GOULASH
1 lb. beef, cut in sm. cubes
2 med. onions, minced
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1 1/4 tsp. paprika
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 1/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
3/4 tsp. cider vinegar
6 tbsp. ketchup
1 1/2 c. water
1 (6 oz.) pkg. noodles (egg)

Brown meat on all sides. Add onions. Combine mustard, paprika, brown sugar, salt. Combine Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, ketchup. Add to mustard mix. Add to meat. Add 1 cup water. Stir; cover. Cook over low heat 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Blend flour with remaining 1/2 cup water. Add to meat. Stir until thickened. Serve over cooked noodles.

Sorry, Moo, I love you, but Ghoulash is NOT Chili with macaroni!

1. I;ll worry about poor George.. out their in the elements - so trusting... someone will make soup out of him... :sad1:

2. Thanks for the Stew clarification - :thumbsup2

3. Goulash the vinegar gives it a ... sweet sour tangy taste - I thought it had a sour cream in it too -

4. Beef Stew My style...
1. buy beef on sale! (I bought an $18 buy one get one free sirloin roast)
cut it in half (freeze half for later)
Get Crock Pot out - dump in 1 can of Campbells double strength Beef Broth (extremely important, rich flavor!) about 1 cup of red wine, salt, pepper, thyme, and 1 T tomato paste... worcestirshire sauce -
chop beef into cubes
brown in oil (and since its a cheap cut of beef, cuss out the people that injected said beef with water, so it doesnt brown till you drain that water - pour water into crock pot
Add carrots because dh loves carrots (I hate onions, but I'd brown them before adding, but thats just me)
Dump beef into crock pot - set on high for 3 hours
in pot add 4T butter, and 4T flour - cook 1 min or 2... put into crock pot to thicken into a gravy
Boil noodles, or like Marita says, make dumplings!!

YUM!!

Sandy, George is almost 2 feet long, he will be fine. No elements to speak of, he will be better off than living in a a plastc box.

The red wine made me think of another recipe I have. It was supposed to be some sort of stew, but due to pressure cooker, it turned out more like a soup, but really delicious. I need to look it up, I love tht soup!
I need to take the rest of the week off, waaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! (or the rest of my life)

I don't own a crock pot. And my mornings are when I am always in a hurry. So I am not likely to ever get one. Just no time to fool with puttng a meal in.

i also use Grandma's cast iron pot - on the stove, its like a pressure cooker (which I wouldnt use, saw one explode once - what a mess!)) cooks the beef tender too!! (My meat isnt thawed in the morning! I get home at 3 and then assemble)

its all good!

how about a saurbraten?? DH has a recipe they make on campouts!! YUM!! Again, a cast iron dutch oven on coals!!

I am so MAD - angry darn Running company for shirts !! so I'm a little overweight :rolleyes1

These days women's XL is a size 12.. TWELVE!! People, I was skinny in college, in high school, and I didnt wear a 12!! I hate having to order a man's XL (which fits just fine thank you very much!) BUT the neckline isnt to my liking, dh says you cant cut the tech material... :sad2:

see if I'm going to run, I'd like to at least have a cute outfit!! :rotfl2:

size 14/16 never looked so goog!!
This is me before babies!! (on our honeymoon! Jamaica baby!) and I was larger than a 12!

and if anyone knows where that body went, I'd like it back, thank you very much!

i
how about a saurbraten?? DH has a recipe they make on campouts!! YUM!! Again, a cast iron dutch oven on coals!!

Oh Sandy, why do you tempt me so????????????

I love Sauerbraten. But I dont think I ever made one by myself Mom always made it. It HAS to have have Potato dumplings and rotkohl served with it though.

Sandy, you were lovely (and you still are). I didnt take your body, really. Mine went mushy too, danggit. Anywhoo, gotta hit the bed, have a great night and day everyone!

You're very kind Marita!! I'll ask dh for that saurebraten recipe - spaetzle - tried making it homemade - decided it was worth the price of the German restaruant in chicago...

bed time for me too!

..saw where dr. ph., refusing to say sorry...he was just intending to
"help'..right> talk about rattie-zattions. the only person he was trying
to help... was himself. wonder what would come out..if someone slipped
him sum truth serum? on second thoughts, i don't think i could stand it...

this bothers me, cos its people like him..that makes our job so much
harder. and over the years..we have had some well-known...clients/pts,
..it's called human dignity & we would never think of crossing those
lines. even if they signed their rights away...but no, i would never
expect him to say , i'm sorry..that would be the decent thing to do.
[think about it.]

wow..lets go back to march, 99...i was in our local courtroom..addressing
"why"...we needed to stop the fillty stuff..i was hearing from my children
school bus...* i look up to see the prosc. attorney...making fun..of
what i was presenting..i stopped the proceedings..and pointed him out!
"you think this is funny--but i'm predicting today..with all these recent
school shootings..somthing bad is about to happpen & when it does..
i want you to know..its people like you, to blame....for not taking
preventative actions why you still can. it's a "big joke" cos it isn't
near your school...just remember, someone telling you before it happens-
idiots..like you! but not in my kids'school...less than 3 mos, columb.
occurred. * i saw the judge 3 years later, he came up to me....how
:sad2: . i'm no prophlet...or very smart..but we have to many...in
power...that all they care..are for themselves...no matter the damages
they do!

 ..did you all also see...that creep living the "good life" donated
monies that was inteneded for our veterans? i don't care he is an old man..he
should be sent to prison! oh, he claimed..he never told those giving
anything else...wow!, as if it wasn't misunderstood..what people were
donating money for? :headache:

oh, utahm...i was born during the windy..month..march. except i should've
been april. my mother had 10 lil'ones..but i was the only one to come
out backwards..which sorta hinted..the rukus ahead? :lmao:

yep, trouble maker....from the start, one might say. :rolleyes1 ..&
still at it. boy!, i'm really am..a slow..learner....

interesting, i was the middle..my oldest brother..wanted to be a lonely
child...which is ok...but you think after the 5th..he would've given that
idea up...:snooty: , then the log..jam...me, ont eh 26, next oldest on
the 27th, & finally the oldest sister...on the 28th. bouncing boy my
hiney..i had it right the first time , boncing ball~ :jumping3:

..favorite cartoon..had to be "top cat"~:thumbsup2 . is there a better
food..than ice cream? i think not! excpet me & my sister sure made
some tasty mud pies! * one sunday morning..we got up early..& attempted
breakfast...its fun....mxing up all kinds of indigirents..if only they had
belong together....whippings...i had my shared....from my siblings'
"faults"..my dad's rule..whoever came up crying got "it". ever listened
to bill c.'s bedroom storys..with his brother..& his "side" of the bed?

true or false..first day..of school..first grade..first recess...first fight?

..wishes??? i miss the ice cream truck's music!

know how to get kids...to eat...eggs? crunch saltines in them. vetatables?
hide 'um in "masked" potatoes!..if only knew..how sneaky my mother
really was... . boy! she would "boxed" dr. p. , with his own ruler!

& though..i had no great teachers...in no ways under mind their potential
values....they are in~deeds...the first line of defense toward a healthy
country...be it wherever. while i think alot ..of these faked roles models
are..needing excused.

dear c~girl: hope you 're having a "peachy day"! :goodvibes

now that i spoke about my "fondness" for reality....what a easy tool
for improving one 's lifestyle!....if so...then when meeting others..
a person can give a reason to be like or dislike...in reality, it just as
easy [& more benfical] to give others reasons to like you! & by golly,
the other thing..is only havin to deal with 2 types of people in the
world..males & females. now isn't that easier? :cheer2:

GOOG MORNING!

I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland.....and no school. Again. I KNOW! I think it's mostly the bus riders that they're concerned about...standing out in the cold/dark at 6am when the sun doesn't rise til 7:30. I could get my kids to school...no problem. :confused3

I can still see the tops of the grass peeking through the snow so there's not that much really but it's the kind that hangs on every tiny branch and leaf. It's just beautiful. I'll take it.

Wendee! You're Moo's new fresh Scrabulous meat?! BWAHAHA! I almost had *flagpole* for a triple word score. I was only missing one letter so I traded and skipped a turn to no avail. I'm still bitter about that. Good luck...Moo beat me by 100+.

Marita
....Chicken and fish....beurk? I'd rather eat fish and chicken but everybody here is BEEF. My grandmother used to make a dish she called goulash but it was more of a casserole and it had green olives in it. But it was gooooood.

Lynette
.....Natasha is just a little thing....too little to be building a 3-D replica of her own home?! I hate it when teachers send home projects that kids can't complete alone...or with minimal parental involvement....cuz you know some parents worked on that project all weekend. What next? A science fair project on conducting electricity?

PJ
....I WANT TO SEE 27 dresses! I loooove that guy from Enchanted...a Versace model who can sing like an angel...mmmmmmm. DD saw Cloverfield on Saturday. Are you a scary movie girl? She loved it. PJ??? Why no meat...in your whole life? Is your entire family vegetarian? No chicken noodle soup? No happy meal? I'm feeling sad for you now. :sad1:

LIL G.....In a roundabout way I think you admitted that your birthday is March 26. Is that correct? A simple YES or NO will suffice. That's funny that your mom would've boxed Dr. Phil. My grandmother was always threatening to box my ears.

Sandy.....Hope DD is feeling better! I feel like DS is my only child too most days....and soon enough he will be. :sad1:

Where's Mommy P???? Check in, girlfriend!

Moo, NAB, Monica, WT, BNCG, Twink, Bonnie, Kay, and ever-body.....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

You should see it. It was really cute. I spent the first half of my day in a long and complicated situation in which I was trying to get a hub cab on my car replaced so I decided I deserved to see a movie. Re: the meat thing. My parents just raised me having never eaten red meat. They don't eat red meat. Hollywood and the little sister have both chosen to eat red meat but I gave up meat altogether 6 years ago when I was 16. I had chicken nugget happy meals when I was little though! I've just never had a hamburger.

Anyway.....

GOOG MORNING, SUNSHINES!!!!
snowflake.jpg

It's snowing here. :) Looks like an indoor recess day.

Have a great one!

mornin. Megara and I slept in.....well almost......the city was snow removing the side streets. SO they would go by every half hour or so with the big machines and the noise and blinking lights ......SOOOOOO megara and I would wake up.......I swear DH can sleep thru anything....

Today kids are back at school. They had yesterday off for MLK day Cant understand my bs's this morning.....122.......I was trying to figure out what I ate last night. had boneless chicken breast, baked potato ..small and some peas......then I had the wicked chocolate cream pie ...even though it was sugar free the carbs count high and with whole milk and real whipping cream.......figured it out anyways......then at eight thirtyish I had a few preztels to hold me over....well I certainly held over.....will count today so I can be good....

have a good working day everyone

I used some seasoning on the chicken breasts....Montreal chicken.....was delicious

I love that seasoning, Marie. It's really good!

Cel...I'm a little confused about that cake. Lauren and Ryan? What does that have to do with Elisabeth. Or me, for that matter. I guess just color me confused.

You? Confused? OH NO! We need a Nurse! Stat! :rotfl2:

Sorry, Moo, I love you, but Ghoulash is NOT Chili with macaroni!
Ya see that word in red?
Yep.
HUNGARIAN!
Round these here parts, goulash is stewed tomatoes with elbow macaroni and onions. Occasionally there will be beef involved.

Can you feel the snark tonight?
The peace the evening brings?

Hi y'all!
Love ya bunches! :lovestruc

Just feel like being an astarstar. :)

Good Job Little G on coming through with the exact date your got your birthday suit.

All these goulosh stories make me want to tell mine. Which really isn't even about goulosh but about HUNGARIANS.

First of all, no disrespect is meant for any and all HUNGARIANS out there. If fact this story begins because growing up we had close friends who were HUNGARIAN. From Hungary. Mooved to the US of A in the early 60s for political reasons. The nicest people you will ever meet.

So my little sister decided to do her 6th grade big project on HUNGARY- you know the one where you make a map, write a paper, give a speech and bring in an authentic dish from your country. She made a lovely HUNGARIAN coffee cake. Smelled delish.
And then she dropped it in the "way back" of the neighbor's very dirty station wagon during carpool.

She was about to lose it- full scale pre teen drama queen melt down.

So I picked it up, dusted it off, put it back in the pan.

She served it up and got an A.

So in our house HUNGARIAN is code for "dropped on the floor".

Hmm.....sounds like maybe you two need a time out (again). No visits to Mamacantfindya for you until you can learn to play nicely together.

:yay: :woohoo:  :worship: :dance3:

Oopps, I mean::guilty: :sad1:

2. And I'm ending it. (TM me) And you know full well that BBN would never make it 3 whole minutes with no food!

Hey! It's not very nice to post about somebody's addiction and then mock it here on the open thread. I harumph all of you. ok some of you. one or two of you? Fine, I harumph none of you. You wouldn't like it if we teased you about your addiction to caffeine, would you snarkgirl? or your addiction to crazynurse ranch, would you PJ?

I'm offended?

SANDY: What a nice picture. You look great!

LIL G.....In a roundabout way I think you admitted that your birthday is March 26. Is that correct?

Melinda: 1. ITA about teachers giving projects that can't be done with only minimal adult assistance. Actually, this one wasn't really too bad. All I had to do was cut the cardboard for the roof and help her attach the 2 boxes (we have an addition that Natasha wanted depicted EXACTLY as she saw fit), then she did the rest.

But you should have seen some of the projects that were filtering in when I took the kids to school this morning. Some of them had battery-operated lights and mini shrubbery. Yeah...some 6 year old did that....RIIIIIIGHT. :sad2:

2. Lil G and Natasha share a b-day. Just saying.

Oh goodie....another addition to the MOOvers lexicon. Lalijack thanks you for this useful post, Twink.

Yeah, not that THAT would ever happen around here! Or over there.

Hi everyone!
Happy day-after-a-holiday-so-it-feels-like-a-Monday-even-though-it's Tuesday! Enjoy your day!

Twinkie- Does the Hungarian food served in your house have a 5 second rule? The "way back" of the Suburban has had it's share of spilled pot luck/picnic food too. The worst being my prize winning Pepsi chili....I may have had a pre teen diva melt down.

Lexee- ohhhh myyyy. I do love Prince Edward from Enchanted/ dude from 27 Dresses too. He is pretty much delicious. "I've been dreaming of a True Love's Kiss, and Prince Edward is a dreamy dish..."

Sandy- I love the perched-on-jagged-Jamaican-rocks pose! You have legs "up to *here*"! I used to have legs up to here, too. Now they're "out to there" :rotfl2: OHMYGAWSH I slay myself!

LILG- I do like Mrs. Dr. Phil. He needs to butt out of Britney's drama. Bless his heart.

Monica- if you're out there, it's your turn in scrabble, mama. WOW us!

Lynette- sorry for calling you an adult film star... :lovestruc
