A big HUGE THANKS to Moo for telling me about the Ctl + to enlarge type on screen!!!

MommyP - I am with you on the flu shot. I've never gotten it for myself or my children, and I DO work in a preschool and my children are in school, and we have NEVER gotten the flu. Now I realize that doesn't mean that we won't, but it is not uncommon for a year to go by and my children haven't visited the Dr.

I took DD in this week for her ingrown toenail and the nurse looked at me like I had three heads when I told her I didn't want the flu mist. Then the Dr. came in and asked too, now I didn't get as weird of a reaction from her, but I guess I'm in the minority. :confused3 I've known more people who have gotten sick from the shot than those who get it and didn't have the shot. Just my experience, not medically documented.:rotfl:

Marita - :thumbsup2

Monica - Hugs to you and Maddy!

hey everyone

Today is a rotten miserable rainy wet and chilly day......BUT had a good start...My son in law got three vip spa treatments for his wife (my daughter), his mom and MOI.....so today was the day...we had them since Mothers day but we wanted to be able to do it altogether.
so first we had a whirlpool for our little piggies, hot water and something in it that made them feel soooooooo darn good.....then some crap on them that made them tingle and feel chilly....wrapped up in a hot towel...then we had a pedicure and painted toes......then we had our hands wrapped with gunk on them and peeled off.....put them in plastic bags and then hot mitts.....that was nice (I think)...then we had a manicure........and some funky colors on my toes.
After our hands and feet were done.....we had big fluffy white robes on and brought to the downstairs area for a relaxation room. There were big BIG couches and chairs with pillows......we had plate fulls of strawberries and grapes, blueberrys and donuts with anything we wanted to drink (non alcoholic)..
I had the first massage and omg I liked it.....hahaha.....but my most favorite was the facial room......I had a lady from England that said I was the driest face ever.......ROFL...but it was so nice.....
Took a total of three and a half hours ....but wicked nice to be pampered..

Today old Danny is giving us a wet and windy day.......lets blow him out to sea and see how far he goes.......ROFL

Pumba, Crap, gunk and funky toes, sounds like a fabulous day, LOL! I love massages, but only thad 2 in my life, both on the company, those days are long gone, sigh!

I just booked 2 nights for a family suite across the street from DL, woot!!! 2 rooms, 4 beds, yet connected.

I think I'll see if I can book Blue Bayoo next

ETA: Booked for Saturday 10/17 and had noted DS's graduation celebration. As I was typing this sentence, I realized that 10/17 is our 39th wedding anniversary, LOL. So I called back to have that noted too. I was reminded to pick up the special buttons, so we shall see what they will do. I have my mind set on steak and lobster

Allie - I hope your DD ingrown toenail gets better quickly. I had major issues with both my big toes in middle school. I ended up having to have them cut the sides of my toenail and injecting something that would prohibit the nail from ever growing that way again. It worked and I never had a problem again.

Recipe trial # 4 from Food & Wine cookbook: Almond cognac truffles.

Result: Eahhh. (not sure how to spell this phonetically) Better off buying fudge brownies from Publix.

This concludes my experiment with 4 Food & Wine recipies.

Overall result: None will be repeated

PJ  Allie's dd had Swine Flu - hope when you get it, or are around it you get immunity from it!! Keep up the goog work at school!! :wizard:
Let's not say "hope when you get it.." I don't want no stinkin swine flu!!!

Y'all are the sweetest buch of cyber people ever. Well, except PJ. heh.

Yes, I KNOW how you feel about crying. Sheesh you should buy stock in Kleenex! Ty for the song though. Now stop being nice to me. It's not natural.

Next time you see your sister go up to her and say "Do I smell bacon?" heh
I believe this statement contradicts the next statement. First you tell me I'm not nice then you tell me to stop being nice. Which will it be, crazy lady????

Done and done. Please refer to facebook. Ty and goodnight.

nd celebrating!
Peej- I saw your snack story. And that is all I am going to say about that. Wait. No. I just don't understand people. That is all. I hope your sister feels better quickly and her semester goes smoothly.
This is the same mom who when I called her to tell her the kid had a high fever and was throwing up told me "that child is not my problem between the hours of 9 and 4." I had him last year too. She's a real....piece of work?? Thanks about my sister. All her professors have been really nice about it. I'm sure you would do the same. ;)

PJ - for your sister. I got mono a month after starting college and it made for a rough start. Could be why I never finished? :rolleyes1 Make sure she cleans EVERYTHING!!!.....or has someone do it for her.
I'm sure my mom is obsessively cleaning everything she even looks at. My mom is a nurse and she's really weird about things being clean to begin with. Hopefully my sister will finish school! Ha.

Spent a few hours at Urgent Care. Wanted to wait until Sat to take baby to her own Dr. but luckily I called for hours and they are not open tomorrow.

She's been vomiting and loose diapers, and not eating, and fever for a few days, so we got a bit concerned.

She just has a viral infection in her throat/stomach. First strep culture came back negative.
Oh my. Poor thing. Hope she's feeling better asap.

That's exciting!!! We ate at Blue Bayou too. The atmosphere there is just so cool. Who wouldn't want to eat in the pirate ride??? pirate: Hollywood went on and on about the steak there so apparently it's awesome. I think I had a grilled cheese. I'm special, you know.

We have a sunshine-y day, finally :sunny:

Off to the Renaissance Festival!!!
Oooohhhh.....fun!! Hope it's a great time. :)

Well, I was supposed to go to Taylor Swift tonight at the fair with my sister, cousin, and friend. Obviously my sister can't go so then the cousin backed out because her and the friend don't get along. It's a long story. No worries though, I have recruited a bbn and a Julia Roberts to accompany me. I'm so excited!!!!! :dance3::woohoo: And don't worry, there has already been preparatory hair braiding after church this morning.

I believe I shall go to the gym.

Hey all.
I need prayers for my brother.
he blacked out on Saturday and didn't remember the past few days. They admitted him last night and they're keeping him until at least tomorrow.
Most of his memory has come back - he's just missing the time before and after the blackout now.
The MRI came back fine.
they just did a spinal tap.

Mama cel stayed with him last night. my sister is staying tonight.

I'm supposed to go back to work tomororw, but I don't think I will. we'll see.

I spent last night at breadman's.
we watched 17 again and the hannah montana movie.
they were both great!

we paused it during Hayden's scene - I can't tell it's her - all I can see is a blob.
but in the scene where hannah is wearing the white dress with green circles before she goes to the lobster dinner and a bunch of girls are shouting "hannah!", hayden is on the right side of the screen holding (I think) a red sign.
and I SWEAR I could pick out her voice in the loud noise. ;)

Cel, prayers for your brother

Moo, hope you had fun at the festival

I'm starving, getting ready to eat some quiche and texas toast

Finally ordered some new shoes tonight, I wore my old ones down to the bone. Easy Street brand, most comfortable ones I ever owned.

Here is my preliminary itenary for DL:

Any addition, changes, suggestions, those of you that have been there before? Not a lot of time to spend there. Geez, this is HUGE, sorry!

It was a fun afternoon at the Renaissance Festival! We watched two sets of an awesome Celtic band called Tartanic. Two bagpipers and two drummers. It was similar to Off Kilter, but instrumental only. The jousting was kind of lame, but we saw a cute pirate-themed show. There were lots of attendees in costume which was pretty interesting to see . . . wenches, pirates, elves, fairies, belly dancers, men in kilts  There were several dogs in costume too!!! There were a ton of craft booths and places to buy Renaissance costumes, but all we bought was a Tartanic CD :thumbsup2

MommyP - Just have to mention the mom I saw with a baby in a sling. She was nursing her baby as she was walking along between the craft booths. She fit right in as there was all kinds of cleavage on display

The only down-side to going today was that my knees were killing me about half-way through. That doesn't bode well for Disney. I'm going to get some cortisone injections before vacation. I sure hope that helps.

Marita - Looks like a nice schedule! I would definitely recommend Soarin'. I think the Haunted Mansion will have the Halloween overlay when you're there. The Sun Wheel was fun, but I wouldn't recommend the sliding seats if you are prone to motion sickness  (if it's open again - I think I read that it was undergoing renovations). I thought DL's monorail was pretty blah compared to WDW's. What about the newish Nemo ride? That's near the Matterhorn, if I recall correctly.

Peej, bbn, and Julia R.! Hope the concert was fun!!!

Pumba - Sounds like you had a wonderful spa day :)

Allie - Ingrown toenails are the pits :( I had one repaired and my grandpuppy (Lab mix) jumped up and landed on it last Christmas. Ouch. My whole big toenail fell off last month. I couldn't believe that happened, but apparently a new toenail was growing in under the damaged one. The new nail still looks like it has a blood blister under it. I just keep putting a Bandaid over it to protect it.

Hope Nabbie is home soon :goodvibes

Cel and CelMama - Sending prayers for your brother/son :grouphug:

Moo, sounds like you had a fun day :goodvibes

Thanks for the Nemo suggestion, forgot about that.

I have done Soarin at WDW, but my favorite ride. HM and POC are supposed to be better there, so have to do that, and no Matterhorn here (although I am not a rollercoaster fan)

DD was sulking yesterday about having to go to DL :sad2: She asked if there was a workout room at the hotel, she'd rather go there. Nope! She'll just have to suck it up and have fun even if it kills her!

Peej - Sending pixie dust to your little sis pixiedust: Hope she gets better soon.

Mony - Same get well wishes for Maddy pixiedust: We sure are having some crappy weather, aren't we? I'm hoping for no rain on Sunday - we're going to try again to get to the Renaissance Festival.

Sandy - I sure have been reading the BLT-related posts over on the DVC board! And I'm really glad we booked a one-bedroom instead of a studio Sounds like the studios are pretty small and not that great for more than a couple people.

Marita - Yep, I missed ya!!! Sounds like you had a pretty rough work week I saw your FB post about the shuttle launch and we watched it too :) One of my friends from work is down there this week and her family was going to try to see the launch. Hope they were able to.

Twink - I know what you mean about those vaccine-makers. We have not far from where I work. They sure seem to have the market cornered. I just received an e-mail this week listing a bunch of reasons not to get the vaccine :confused3 It's so hard to know what to do.

I hear you on the handwashing though. I don't like that Purell stuff because it's scented, so I just keep alcohol wipes in my purse. Makes me feel kinda like Monk

bbn - Belated Happy Birthing Day! :cake:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 and a big Ditto!!

PJ WTH was I thinking - I do NOT want you getting no stinkin flu neither!! YOU are too important!!

Moo cant wait to read YOUR tr from BLT!

Marita You've been industrious in your weeks from hell to find time to cook from the F&W cookbook!! :thumbsup2 OH for DL - dont forget that the Its a Small World is vastly different from wdw too :rolleyes1 Just imagine - you are going to CALIFORNIA!!! :woohoo: and your DS!! :yay: Graduate!
:cool1:

Alli ouch! Hope dd is better!

Cel and Celmom prayers - + +thoughts+ + :grouphug:

The weather SUnday was AWESOME!!

check out my photo trip report to Chicago to Cheer DS on in the Chicago Triatholon (largest in the world - 10,000 athletes! BUT they dont all start the same time!! Thank goodness!)
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33387533&postcount=455
(its the view single post! Mostly pics too!! ;) )

(notice the clouds in pic 1 that was at 7am - then by 8am the swim, few clouds, by 9 when the bike pics were - awesome - it was a nice breeze not hot at all!! :woohoo:)

We pricelined the hotel 10 min from where he needed to start the transition - thank God for Priceline!! :thumbsup2 But the thin walls and the party at 2:30 am freaked me out a bit (one of the drunken guests knocked on our door - we had to be up at 3:30AM to get his stuff there! I called security they quieted down BUT until 4am when ds and dh left we didnt know one of the guests plopped down outside our door - :rotfl2: this was at the HYATT - a $200 a night (cept for priceline $59!) 4* resort :rotfl2: Called security - they came and got him!! :rotfl2: OH - and as for that party - they got pranked called at 4 am :rolleyes1 until someone picked up the phone :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 and then said ' oops never mind"

I know that was wrong... :guilty:

I'm Back!!!!!!

Actually I was back on Saturday but have been really busy.

Nicholas played his ballgame on Saturday. Glad we made it back because they won top prize. All got medals. He caught made a great catch for his team so he was on cloud nine that day.

And yesterday was the Jonas Brothers concert. Missed the Go train by mintues twice. The encore they played made us late for the train by 3 minutes. We didnt get home until after 1:30.

P.J.-- Nicholas would have loved to see Taylor Swift. He has posters of her all over his room. But instead he had to see the Jonas Brothers, Jordan Sparks, Demi, the Wonder Girl ( they only played one song) and the Honour Society.

We went out for school supplies today and got a flat tire. At least it happened in a parking lot and not on the highway.

Also cleaned up some of my house when I got back. Dust everywhere from putting in new windows . What a mess after cleaning my house before I left. :sad2: My BIL does not know how to clean up after himself. I am sure if it was any other customer he would not have let everywhere including the walls get that much dust on them.

NAB, welcome home!

Congrats to Nicholas!

Sandy, great pics, sounds like you had a great time, except for the drunks

I left work a little after 7 tonight and it was dusk and just starting to rain tonight. Shortly after I hit the road, the skies opened up, it poured bucket! I literally could not see the road ahead of me at one point. Luckily a car pulled off to the side of the road and I followed his flashing hazzard lights. Sat there just waiting for maybe 15 minutes, it was horrible. The new just said we had 17,000 lighting strikes :scared1: Took me almost twice as long as normal to get home. And tomorrow more ofJp the same, except starting earlier, oh Joy :sad1:

CEL and CELmama - Sending prayers for your brother/son, and a  too

Sandy - Going to read your report! Sorry about the drunks, but good job on the prank, 'cept they answered. :headache: Oh well, they were drunk and didn't remember. :rolleyes1

DD's toe is better, but got a call from her yesterday asking for the flip flops back. I had sent her in her tennis shoes because the toe looked great. Oh well. :guilty: I am beginning to think that the shoes may be the problem. :scratchin

Marita - Put me on the list of WILLING participants to take DD's place. Uh, doesn't she know that Disneyland is ALOT more fun than exercising. :headache:

Just passing through, but I wanted to say good morning to y'all! Boris and Natasha went back to school today. Waaaaah! :sad1: I could have used about another month of having them home.

We went to the classroom walk-thru for each of them yesterday, which always help to get them back in the school-year frame of mind. They saw their classrooms and got to see who else is in their classes with them. Boris got a feel for his new school, and found out where his locker is. Unfortunately, we also found out that Boris' class is an inclusion classroom AGAIN. That makes all 5 years (I'm including kindergarten) that he's been in an inclusion class. I'm not happy about it, but it's too darn late now.

On the bright side, the kids got up and got ready with no resistance this morning. Natasha was quite excited about her First-Day-of-School outfit, so that made things easy. They'll have a 3-day week this week, a 4-day week next week because of Labor Day, and then they'll have a full week the week after. Much better to ease the kids into the school year, I think.

Hope everyone around here is well.

Marita, sorry about your crappy commute. Sounds like pulling off the road was a smart move! Yay on your DL trip!

Peej, how is the baby sister? Is she feeling better, or should we prepare for the aporkalypse? :rotfl::rotfl: (I crack myself up!)

Cel and CelMama, how is your brother/son? He's in my prayers.

NAB, welcome back. Got pics?

Moo, your Renaissance Fair sounds like quite an opportunity for people watching. Glad you had fun!

Sandy, sounds like you had the hotel-guests from helk next to you. :sad2:

BBN, Twink, Allie, Mony, Allie, Pumba, and everyone else: !!!!! Have a great Tuesday! I am off to get a manicure! See y'all later!
