We survived "Bill" . They said it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Bad enough for me rocking in a trailer. Felt like really bad turbulance in a plan. The waves were huge. After they said it was almost over we went down to the ocean to see. Pretty cool but we weren't getting too close.

I am now in Cape Breton visiting relatives. Beautiful weather now. Sun , warm breeze. Maybe we will go clam digging. Used to love that when we were kids with my dad. Love clams, not so much if they are too sandy.

Heading for home on Thursday to be back for Nicholas play off game on Saturday and Hannah is going to see the Jonas Brothers on Sunday.
Nabbie - I'm glad you're safe. I read in the news today that a 7-year old girl got swept away from a cliff in Maine due to a huge wave from "Bill". So tragic.

Hope the rest of your trip is fun and that you get the kids back in time for all their activities :)

Mony - Nice talking with you today!!!

Sandy - Sending more prayers for your hubby's and DS's job situations :grouphug:

MommyP - Those babies sure do learn fast! ;)

Marita - Glad to hear that you're well-provisioned for your long work days! Too bad the DL hotels are so pricey even after the CM discount. We really enjoyed staying at Paradise Pier during our anniversary trip.

Twink - How's your class going so far?

Peej - What a nice teacher you are  And how sad for that boy to have a mom like that :sad2: I'm sure he'll always remember Miss Lauren.

I was thinking of seeing Time Traveler's Wife, but maybe I won't now based on your two thumbs down. Have you seen Julie & Julia? I really enjoyed that movie, but maybe it was because of how well Meryl Streep pulled off Julia Childs. Amy Adams wasn't too shabby either!

Holllllla, BigL.

Moo...I haven't seen Julie and Julia. I'm sure plenty of people liked Time Traveler's Wife, but I just thought it was silly. And long. And one aspect of it was actually very creepy.

I believe I shall be heading to bed. What profound contributions I have made to this thread today.

Holllllllllllllaaaaaaaa, LilL! And good night too, I guess. :confused3

Moo, our local news covered the story about the 7 y.o. girl too. Not sure what possessed the girl's dad to take a 7 y.o. and a 12 y.o. to the rocky cliffs overlooking the Atlantic in hurricane winds. So sad. The Coast Guard rescued the dad and the 12 y.o., but couldn't find the 7 y.o. until several hours later. Poor little thing.

1. I also saw Time Traveler's Wife (2 thumbs down)

2. Hello and appropriate comments to everyone. With smileys and pictures, even. Beat that.

1. Naked time travel is the only way to go. duh. Also, when a naked time traveler shows up in a field talking to an unsuspecting 6 yo, you are supposed to smile and say "What a poignant moment" and boo hoo your eyes out like a slobbering idiot. APPARENTLY, you are NOT supposed to throw popcorn and threaten said time traveler with a call from CPS.

Just

Sayin'

2. I can beat that with my eyes closed and both hands tied behind my back. In fact, I think I just did. Next time make it a lil harder.

Loser

Freak

1 Did you just call Twink old? :rolleyes1

2 My, how Snopes of you. What next, reports on a 9/11 conspiracy? Pop rocks and soda? :rotfl:

1. She's not old. She's fa..............................aaaar along.

2. Mel Gibson's got nuthin on me. (except a pregnant gf and a ticked off exwife. and a buttload of money. and ice blue eyes. and well, and. other than that, he's got nuthin!)

1. bbn - :lmao: LOL, I tried to post that pic last night (great minds think alike)! Except that every time I tried to copy it, I got booted over to yahoo :confused3

2. Twink - How's your class going so far?

1. Ha. GMTA!

2. It's fa'aaar along. (I know I used that joke up there, but it was fitting)

2. It's fa'aaar along. duh. (I know I used that joke up there, but it was fitting)

Heh. It is fitting. My jeans are NOT btw.

So tonight is Meet the Teacher at preschool. I, of course, am working making this mommy job into a daddy job. Goldenchild is a little concerned about the whole thing- apparently he was under the impression that he had to spend the night at school. I was clearing that up when we had the following conversation.

Me: Normally, I'll pick you up after school but tonight Daddy with stay with you because it isn't a school day, just a time to say hi to to your teacher.

Goldenchild: What do we do at school anyway?

Me: Lots of fun stuff: play with friends, learn letters, color, paint, sing....

Goldenchild: I have a great song to sing to them.... Duh duh de duh duh oh everybody dance now duh duh de duh.

Goldenchild should go on "American Ido"l. Or maybe "So You Think You Can Dance". Or "America's Got Talent".

Or "SextoMom: The truth behind the lab coat".

He is a fan of America's Got Talent. Oddly enough he identified with the Hoff.

If it doesn't fit in the edit box, then it ain't worth sayin'.

:rolleyes::teacher::littleangel:pirate:

Moooving on.

Weather: Cloudy. Muggy. Might be hotT later. Might rain.
Suppah: No clue. Really.
Kids: Freaking geniuses who can sing AND dance. Triple threat.
School: Idiotic fundraising is on full force.
Work: Good. I have nice students which is nice for me but gives me no material. I may have an entire semester without cars getting stolen or grandmas dying right before the big test. Maybe. In fact I should be writing a test right now. Bah.
Rampant Profundity: I wish I had a diet coke right now.

Ty for that status update. Now I have to go bbn. Have a magical freakin' day!

Morning, all!

peej - Thank you for all you do. You are making a difference.

I was thinking about seeing the time traveler's wife, but maybe now I won't.

mony - good luck with school! I start Saturday.

Tis afternoon here! Howdy anyways.

Twinks IS???? Sorry I missed that! Congrats crazy lady!

Not sure if I want to come back and drink the water. Although it should be impossible......I'll just dis with protection. Heh.:cool2:

Thanks Cel: I got my sylabus for math 1000. Yikes! and Whoa! It's a 8 week course for 4 credits. I'm in trouble! Who is the math genius here? Twinks? I tested into this class and I couldn't answer half the questions he posted on the sylabus. He said, if you answer these 5 questions correctly then you are prepared to take this class. I swear one must be a typo! I did get 2 right. Prayers appreciated!

ETA: PJ, you are what those children need. Heartbreaking as it is, that child needs you in his life.

MP: PG already? No way! I know it's possible, but..........

Happy Tuesday!

No way! First of all I said I was takin a few years off. ;) Second of all my teeny tiny tear didn't get stitched so the hanky panky is OFF LIMITS until my 6 week check.

Twinkie
- Is that one of your exercise to the beat songs?

You gonna find out what your baby is? It's got to be getting close to that time.

Nab
- Crazy thing about Bill. Looks like there is another coming up there. So sorry, but thankful they aren't coming here.

Ellie Claire's appointment went well. She gained an ounce, not much, but my big babies have all taken time to gain back their birth weight. Her jaundice isn't bad and I think she looks a little better today. She's been getting lots of sun.

Well now I need to find a good reason for Chad to give her a bath instead of me. :)

just so you all kno...i almost burst from all the "slang"..being

..toss around....& the way this year has been downer....sure

..needed it.

....have you seen the start a scandal thread?....well it seem
like the baby bug..biting alot..here......is wt next?

in the pickle jar? popcorn::

....then there's the "terrible parent" section...in reality, if we
recognized..our terrible person feelings, & attempted a lil' self
improvment...we might end up surprising..how far we could go?

fyi........i'm no :littleangel:! but i have no hang ups...liking the
directions...i have found in life. wanta kno...why incoint. lady....
has hard feelings?....when she was cursing like popeye, i made
a nursing dx., "you really don't like the reflection in the mirrow,"
..i wish....you could've seen her "eyes".

..fringe benefit..having to work....with all those with personalities'
disorders...provides alot ammo , you kno/..."counter measures".
* psych nurses..learn real quick...to always be aware & watching,
a matter life & death.....but it can be ..amusing, too.

* i remembering..thinking, what luck!...but wondering..why??? no
one was not standing on the lil' platform....when there was plenty
of room. [ so i figured.....there was someone..nasty..."guarding it".
.....he,he, boy was there ever! but i also..knew...it "was common ground".
since the show had started...and they were all looking forward,
......i could escape..detection. & for the first....20 or so minutes...
i did. then she looked back, & i knew the "game"..was on. she goes
..i want to dance!...well go ahead..you're not bothering me. thats
when she grabbed the teenager....around his waist....even through
his objections....,

....wow!...we're leaning toward...dvc, soooo there goes..my cruising
fun. that's one draw back...cruising...with the special cruises.,.running
into those that think they "own"..the ship. [where we come from,
it's called delusional thinking]...the problem is when they start
acting act.

twinkle..there's all kinds of cruises....you should go! trust me, we have
never regretted a single..one. we have done...4 dayer, 3 dayer, 5 dayer, 7-
dayer, 11 dayer, & last year 15 days. * i used last year cruise, to
surprise my wife..with her all tyme favorite character....snow white.
.....alot of the disney classics...are connected to real feelings, worth
adopting. [ watch....the sword & stone, the squirrel scene, is about
the prefect...story...about love...having & losing it. ] oh..just because
you're not chosen...for any special rewards...dosen't mean...you can't
make..your own "magic".....ahhhh, the benefit of putting one'social
skills to work? { 4 out 5...times...we 've been upgraded. * i still like
the cat. 11 best...for sleeping. ~deck 5.] and the time i got jordan
to meet mickey & minnie..backstage..in their golden outfits,......made her
so happy. my advice?...cruises are not cheap...so do them right, by
your family ways of doing stuff...whatever that may be, and you'll
create.....something special. :wizard:. [ i 've read..alot of the cruises'
report...and they all follow the same patterns..& mostly trying..to out
do one another.] let's just say....the ways..we do ours..are alot
different. me? i get a lil'nutty..out to have some fun, too!

ie, i caught the whole officers' crew..coming out from a meeting..so
.....i asked..to take..a picture....with me in the middle,

pay attention!...."snow white"..one time...was cpt. jack's character
escort...if you can imagine that? :lmao:

can you imagine...taking wt's on one of these babys?

........but it looks like...with dvc, we will skipped this year cruise.

* we went with the extra discount, as a 4 day cruise....isn't in our
time frame. so we'll get $13 off per point.

ps....before make a wish, i was helped by cripple children......i grew up
seeing alot mean kids & adults. i don't care much for mean people
like ms. incoint. [ the type, that feels only good by putting others
down..] & are easy...to spot. and since they are one of my pet peeved,
...i have no problem.....redirecting their "evil ways", right back...
@ them.

oh,i just...want to say......:thumbsup2, to mp...i'm sooo happy for
you & your beautiful family. :cheer2:

nabby girl...., you're so special too, thank goodness for your kind
words..over my trip report....a long time ago, in a galaxy full of
....dark siders, :lmao:

MommyP, I think you jinxed me with your tales of women who just gave birth and bleeding to death!!!

Last night I was working, and the emergency call light goes off in one of our patient's rooms. I was actually walking down the hall and headed for that room.

When I walked in one of the other nurses, Kristin, was with the patient in the bathroom and there was blood everywhere. It looked like a war zone. She was trying to help the patient back to bed, but her knees were starting to buckle. I went down on my knees and slid in front of the patient so I could catch her and her face hit my knees instead of the floor.

Another nurse came into the room. I grabbed my ammonia inhalent that I ALWAYS have taped to the back of my i.d. badge, and broke it open and put it under the patient's nose. Usually one whiff of that stuff and it revives you immediately, but she was completely out of it.

I ask "What's her name??" and somebody says "Maria"

and I say "Maria! MARIA! Look into my eyes. Stay with me. You gotta fight for me. Look at me. Can you hear me. MARIA!"

I tell the other nurses we have to get her back to bed because we are losing her. She keeps bleeding. We open her IV all the way up.

She is a ragdoll. Completely lifeless. I keep waving the ammonia inhalent under her nose and pick her head up in my hands and say "MARIA! LOOK AT ME. OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT ME RIGHT NOW!"

Her head moves slowly back and forth and I say it again. Finally, she opens her eyes briefly and she tries to look down and Kristin says "NO. Look into Elisabeth's eyes. Just stay with her"

She opens her eyes and for the briefest moment something passes between us. She recognizes that she is looking at another human and all I can say is her eyes said "help me". And then they rolled back into the back of her head again. By this time her skin is clammy and her face is gray. Ugly, sick gray. And her lips are so white.

So anyway, two other nurses come into the room and we carry her back to bed. I won't go into details, but we asses her bleeding and try to get her uterus to firm up. I know she's retained placenta. One nurse goes out to call the doctor. Her breathing is shallow, her pulse is weak, but she never actually stopped breathing. Thank God. It's horrible to run a code.

She needed an emergency D&C. We were able to get everything done so quickly. I'm glad the nurses I work with are great team players. I know in an emergency they have my back and vice versa.

She is stable this morning. They are deciding whether to transfuse her with a couple units of blood. She needs it, but she doesn't want to get it.

This was right at the end of my shift. I might have to burn those scrubs. I dont think they will ever come clean again. ugh. I got in the shower and that's when it hit me. So I layed my head against the shower wall and allowed myself a moment to cry.

I couldn't sleep. Everytime I would wake up in the middle of the night, all I would see is her eyes, looking directly into mine and remembering how it seemed like she was pleading with me to help her even though she couldn't say a word.

Sometimes it just really hits me hard that people's lives depend on whether I know how to do my job right or not. One medication error, one false move in a code, one slip in the nursery, and the results could be fatal. I have had days when I think I should just walk away. Find something else to do. I was really feeling that way this morning. I was thinking what if we hadn't responded fast enough, what if the doctor didnt call us back right away, what if we weren't in there and she hit the floor and split her head open, what if she had the baby in her arms and did that.

One of the nurses said her dh told her that she could never do the job he does, because it is so physical. He is a landscaper for a golf course/country club. She replied "Yeah but if you screw up a blade of grass dies. If I screw up a human being dies" *sigh*

maybe I should have stuck to secretarying.
