where'd everybody go??!

Kentucky question - anybody??? DS would like to go camping and hiking next week for Spring Break - will it be "warm enough"? any suggestions on where??

Well, the other shoe dropped today for Disney Finance.

We got a meeting invite at 3 pm today for 4:30-5:30 TODAY from the Head Honcho of Finance! :scared1:

He told us that they made significant changes in the organization, and unfortunately that a involved a number of involuntary separations. We will hear about the changes in organization around noon tomorrow (so much for plans to go out for a surprise baby shower lunch).

Anyway, the guy today told us that we would have to change the way we work. He said that "yes, we all have all heard that before, it always ends up that we work harder, but this time we can't do that, we have to make some real changes". So guess we have to see what that looks like. (Earlier today, we were told that we now have to do another file with explanations for forecast in addition to what we already do, flies sqaure in the face of that). So we shall see how all that works out.

He also said those that were gone were out friends and collegues, some of them for many years. Which made me both feel glad I am still around after almost 37 years and very sad for those people that lost their job. I don't know any names yet. It's all very unsettleling.

Hubby hasn't heard anything yet from his division, but he went in at midnight last night and left at 10 am.

Shortly before the meeting, I went out for a cigarette and overheard a Convention Houseman talking to some Housekeepers about how a long-term manager there was escorted out today and that one of the "big" guys was given a choice of leaving or taking a pay cut. He took the pay cut. He also said that if you got invited to the BIG meeting, you were safe, but if you were invited to a smaller room, your throat is cut. Funny thing is, I guess he saw me listening to him, and as I was walking into the BIG meeting, he patted my shoulder and said, "this is the room to be in" (we walked in from the back side)

So anyway, I still have a job, and big VP said he is done with changes and we can breathe easy that we still have a job for at least a while.

Keep fingers crossed for DH!

Umm. I just drove through kentucky - snow, sleet and ice.
fun!
but earlier this week it was 70.
:confused3

So the guy I was dating called tonight and said he'd like to remain friends.
At least he had the courtesy to call.
But get this - he thinks I'm TOO CHRISTIAN!
Ha!
I usually get TOO LIBERAL!
I told him I appreciate his honesty and courtesy.
back to the sea!

marita - they will at least wait until they get the flower and garden fest done before they start layoffs in your husband's division! :scared1:
Glad you missed the ax!

I love how my brother moves his "junk."
He just took the tv and the entertainment center! :(
I have one of my own, but I don't feel like moving it tonight.

Cel, thanks for the reassurance for DH. 2 more weeks? :sad2:

I think from what I heard today it will be all done sooner than that.

Sorry you have to go fishing again

I had a FB message from Lex today. She said to say hi to everyone - she's doing well, but has been super busy.

w00t for your DD, Twink! :cheer2:

Her Royal Highness bbn :worship: Goog thing Red didn't tell you he got an F!!!

Whew, Marita! That's sort of a relief. I think Cel is right about the timing for any announcements to your hubby's group.

I was talking with a friend at work today and she told me that her friend who works for Disney was just involuntarily separated. She worked in the parks doing those guest surveys.

Cel - Was Riley a good boy at the office?! Some people think you're too liberal AND some think you're too Christian? You're just a dichotomy!

Hell, B! Are you all mended after your hospital visit?

moo - Riley was great! he loved having tons of people loving him.

Too Christian, too liberal. Too gay, too straight.
one day I WILL FIND MY PRINCE/PRINCESS!
I am determined!
ha.
just kidding. I don't want a princess. just a prince.
or a nice guy.
is that too much to ask?
:confused3

I went back on eharmony and actually have some prospects. we'll see.

Big L! The pin is available!!!! (We think. Somebody on the collectible board found it in Disney's website and its an open edition which means they're still making it so it should be available.)
When is Boris's report due?

I might need you to pm me your phone number. cuz I won't have internet access (darn disney!) and if I write your address down, I'll forget it.
or maybe I could put it in my phone.

but anyway, here's what it looks like:

So the crib and changing table were a bust. Stupid craigslist. Chad called yesterday afternoon to make sure she still had it and she said she would be getting home around 7. We headed into town before then so we wouldn't be getting home too late. She never called us. Stupid woman. At least we got to have a nice dinner at Olive Garden. Not just the two of us, but only Kaleb and Isaac so it was super easy and quiet. lol.

Last edited by MommyPoppins : Today at 09:04 AM. Reason: Wait did I tell you guys about my craigslist find?

Uh no. I am looking for bunk beds. The one set I liked was gone in 30 seconds.

I found a nice crib and dresser/changing table. She was asking 175, but said make an offer. So we offered 120, she said okay. It was nice too. Perfect, just what we needed. (obviously we need another crib since Isaac will still be using his)

Now we're going to have to spend a lot of money on it. I'm not wasting my time with craigslist anymore, this is the second time we've gone for something on there that wasn't. It's not worth it when we live 45 plus minutes from everything.

I just heard about this latest Obama plan and I am none too happy. IF he passes a law stating that I will be forced to assist in abortions and will not be protected if I object on moral or religioius conscience, then I will definitely be finding another job.

Currently, my hospital allows for nurses/staff who oppose these proceedures to not participate. Granted, we are not an abortion clinic, but occasionally we have moms come in who want to be induced and or have a baby removed that supposedly has physical and/or genetic defects. The doctor wants the nurses to either assist in the proceedure or give medications to cause these women to go into preterm labor and abort the baby.

It has never been an issue for those of us who do not want to participate in these circumstances.

AND, I am going to add, before I jump off of my soap box, that if in fact my religious beliefs are no longer of any merit, we are heading down a very dangerous path in this country.

I bought Goldenchild's crib at a yard sale. It was clean and in good condition (it was a grandparents house for visiting grandchildren and apparently rarely used) BUT when I got it home it was clearly missing an important piece.

So we had to buy that making it not such a great deal.

Anyway- I loved that crib (I gave it to a friend when her house flooded and Grasshopper is in one of the twins old cribs, Goldenchild is in the other one converted to a toddler bed). It didn't convert but it was the easiest thing to set up, take apart, change the bedding in...etc.

Drats. The purpose of this post was to link you to the crib (cause I had to hunt down the manufacturer to buy the missing part). It no longer seems to be at toys r us/babies r us. It was Jenny Lind style and only 109$ brand new.

Good call on leaving Isaac in the crib. :thumbsup2 One of my parenting regrets has been mooving them out of cribs too soon. If they are not climbing out, or needing to go potty in the middle of the night then leave them in. That's my motto.

It's longer that "spread sunshine and roses" but just as useful. ;)

What'did I miss? HI!!!!!!

Twinkie- I totally agree with your crib motto :thumbsup2...which is the extent of my skimming, go back one whole post.

I'm feeling all LOST not having some kind of project looming for school. I get to actually watch that electronic broadcasting device-whatsamawhosit.. The View is at Disney (all week but I just got to watch it today).

UGH! I can't imagine assisting in this! NO WAY could I! :guilty:

Babycow - Don't leave the country yet!
Read this part:
Federal law has long forbidden discrimination against health care professionals who refuse to perform abortions or provide referrals for them on religious or moral grounds. The Obama administration supports those laws, said the HHS official.
If they remove your right to abstain, I'll move with you!
I think that's disgusting.
blech.

Love, Amber the secret TOO CHRISTIAN! Republican.

Dear Amber the secret too christian republican hiding behind the leftist liberal trollop persona,

I did read that sentence. I guess my thoughts on the matter are if the Obama administration feels that way, then why do they want to overturn this law?

Actions speak louder than words.

If a guy says he loves you, but doesn't call, doesn't want to spend time with you, doesn't say sweet things to you, doesn't respect your thoughts or feelings then he doesn't love you. ya know? and I realize that is oversimplifying the matter, but i'm using it as a metephor. so there smartypants people.

And, I am trying not to have a knee jerk reaction about this. I did not call my boss and say "I am soooooooo outta here. Goodbye" But, when I read that I will say that I was quite upset. Because I don't know that there is another job on this planet that is more fitting for me than babynurse...unless it was baby doctor.;) I absolutely love what I do. Thinking about the possibility that I would not be able to do that anymore, made me sad. I will wait and see what happens. What else can I do?

Thanks for indulging me.

Sincerely and with much love...but not that kind of love,:rolleyes1

Srsly, I hope the laws will remain such that you and many other health care providers can continue to work. There is already a shortage of babydoctors.
