1. Lynette - Sounds like Natasha's party was a big success! That's my kind of party - no housecleaning, cooking, post-party clean-up, etc.!!! What did the girls make at Build-a-Bear?

Telecommuting wasn't so much fortitude as necessity - I need to conserve some leave time for follow-up appointments because I've used a lot of sick leave for previous appointments. Plus, my hubby is in the process of getting approved for the same surgery, probably in the next few weeks, and I'll have to be able to be at the hospital for that, so I'm trying really hard to avoid getting into a time off with no pay situation. I'm very happy that I'm mending quickly! Hope I can make it through a full day of work on Monday :scared: If not, my boss will probably let me spread out my telecommuting time over the first week back.

Moo, I'm so glad Natasha opted for a party outside of the house this year. Especially because she and Boris were in the throes of completing big school projects when her b-day rolled around. That school stuff was spread all over my dining room table until this afternoon, when they both finally finished said projects. Re: Build a Bear.......The girls made identical Lil Honey Cubs. They even selected matching pajamas for their bears. Natasha selected that particular bear because it reminded her of her original Build a Bear, Mocha Bear, who she's had since before her 2nd b-day. She sleeps with that bear EVERY night...it even goes with us on vacations. Apparently, Mocha Bear now has a little sister. ;)

I didn't know that Mr. Moo was going to have the same surgery. Hope his as every bit as smooth as yours has been.

I am off to bed now...sweet dreams to everyone!

big L - Thank goodness the pins made it! Yay for the postal workers spreading the pixie dust!

moo - congrats for your hubby - you know you better heal fast - men need soooo much more attention than women.

(lil g and B excluded, of course!)

The reception went well - and I made $100!

I think it should be a second job for me - the mother of the bride even suggested I do it - she couldn't believe I'd never done it before.
she said as soon as she met me before the wedding, she began to relax because she could tell I was organized and would have everything taken care of.

Yay, Celery! Good for you, Falling into bed now.

GOOD MORNING!

Put Emily on the bus with the church youth group to St. Louis for Spring Break yesterday. DS was with DH at the other house.

I decided it was time to sort through papers etc and assess my financial situation. Which is pretty frickin bleak at the moment. I cleaned house, walked to the grocery, did laundry, dishes, etc. Mimi took pity on me and stopped by to bring Twilight so my friend came over and we watched it early last evening.

I always get DS on Saturday nights so we can attend church on Sundays. Tonight he goes back to DH since I have to work and there's no school this week so he'll be spending a few nights/days there since Emily is gone til Wednesday evening. I'll be a little sad and lonelyish. I know, I know....I should enjoy my time alone. I'm just not used to it yet.

Congratulations, PJ! w00t!

Monica....Love your extreme fireplace makeover! It makes the room look so much bigger. And the new toy is awesome. I WANT ONE! Oh, I just saw the vases. Goog job! I'll have to send a picture of my mantle. My BFF made me some topiaries.

Lynette....Sounds like a fun birthday for Natasha. I prefer the off-site parties too. No preparation, no mess, done.

Cel....I missed something. You're a wedding planner now? Or you just coordinated the reception? Get busy on that paper, missy.

BNCG.....Prayers for your friend and her family. How tragic.

HAVE A WONDERFUL, BLESSED SUNDAY!
:flower3:

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11

Lexy, it's so good seeing you around.:goodvibes

Thanks for the nice compliments on the fireplace wall. I really like it too.

Last night was my get together with the girls who I hung out with right after high school. It's been roughly 15 since I've seen 2 of them. We sat in Olive Garden laughing and remembering back. The waitresses got a kick out of our laughter and jokingly asked what we were all drinking cause they wanted some of it.

I never thought I'd ever close Olive Garden, but we did.

Much to do, have a wonderful Sunday.

melinda - :hug:Hang in there, sweetpea. We love you!
I helped with an aquaintances reception. I'd love for it to be a second job, but I don't really want to advertise. :confused3

I'm gonna start on the paper soon. I promise. I even have my keyboard set up ready to go.
Cuz it's hard to type fast on a laptop keyboard.
but I had to check in with y'all first!
then I have to check in on match.com and eharmony and see if anyone interesting has emailed me.
THEN I'll work on the paper.

mony - sounds like a fun night! I still haven't been to our new olive garden. I was hoping the date I have tonight would suggest it, but he said O'Charleys instead.
which is good, just not Olive garden!

I don't think y'all have o'charleys up there. I know I've seen them as far north as Indiana -
it's kinda like applebees, only in my mind a bit nicer.
with yummy yeast rolls!
and to die for caramel pie - that's just sweetened condensed milk boiled while in the can and poured in a graham cracker crust.

Awww, Lynette - I looked up the Lil Honey Cub on-line. So cute!

Cel
- I'll be glad when hubby will be eating the same things that I can eat. It'll make things easier for me and our grocery bill should be lower. Right now, he's only supposed to be having 1800 calories a day, but he's still making stuff like Lean Cuisine pizza and the yummy smell is pretty hard to take. He has always recovered pretty fast, so I wouldn't expect him to need any special attention. He sure didn't give me any!

Take it easy with that caramel pie! My teeth hurt just thinking about it.

Lex!!! It's great to have you back! :grouphug: Sounds like you have a pretty good schedule worked out. I know that holidays and school break times are often rough. My BFF still struggles when her DD goes over to her dad's for extended periods, even though she's a college freshman now.

Thank you for that verse this morning - just what I needed.

Mony - w00t on the fun outing with old friends!!! I haven't been to Olive Garden in ages.

Some of my favorite quotes so far:

Dr. Johnson feels differently. As he put it, “you can not have a life run by attorneys” (interview).

By bringing key members of DCI as guest speakers to a weekly meeting, he is starting to infuse the corporate culture that DCI prides itself on in his department. I was able to observe when he played the aforementioned song about Camp O for his employees and seeing the effect this personal reaction had on them was heartwarming. It is my belief that Benjamin will lead this new generation of DCI employees to further the goals set by Dr. Johnson over 35 years ago.
Awww. I'm gonna make ben read my paper and hopefully I can get a tear out of him for that one.

He almost made me cry yesterday -

here's his email and song:
Sorry if I've already told you this story but I wanted to share with everyone where the concept for this song came from.

Kyle and I were sitting at the new Logan's Steakhouse by my house on St. Patrick's Day having a couple of green beers after work. The bartender brought us change back and in it was the quarter in the picture I attached. A slightly worn out quarter that had been painted red. I didn't think much of it until Kyle pointed it out. He said, "you know the tradition of the little red dime, right?" Of course, I knew nothing of it. He explained that years ago it was a tradition for fathers to paint a dime red and give it to their daughters to keep with them in case of an emergency; that way they could call their father for help. When the price of calls went up they would paint quarters. Nowadays you'd be hard pressed to even find a payphone anywhere.

I was affected by this story for several reasons. The first being the fact that I held in my hand what had been someone's emergency call. I wondered what might have been the scenario causing the girl to use the red quarter. I thought about how our definition of 'emergency' changes as we grow up. I thought about how a true friend would paint another dime for you if you had to use the first one, second one, hundred and second one. I thought it was interesting that even though the price of a call increased that true friendship is unconditional and doesn't cost at all. I found myself wondering who I might call in case of an emergency. Who has one of my red dimes? Whose red dime do I have? Who'd be there at crunch time? Certainly the one who told me of this tradition; Kyle. (Although a few minutes ago, in the middle of a hail storm and a very serious tornado warning he didn't answer his cell...the b*******!) Ha! Seriously, though, most of you on this mailing list are people I could call if I broke down on the road or if I needed saving of some sort or another...and I appreciate you. I want you to know that you hold my red dime and if you need anything, I'm here.

Sincerely,

Ben

Little Red Dime
B. Glidewell

Verse 1
Her daddy gave her a single dime that he painted red
“Keep this in your pocket for emergencies,” he said
“And whenever you need me—and I mean anytime
Use this little red dime”
----
First time she needed it she was barely sixteen
Her sweetheart said ‘it’s over’ and he took back his class ring
She was sure her life had ended and she thought she would die
But then she found the red dime

Chorus
This is an emergency daddy
My heart’s broken and I’m hoping you’ll come take me home
I sure need you daddy
I have no one else to turn to; I feel so alone
And he came running to her side
‘Cause of a little red dime

Verse 2
Her daddy simply replaced the dime when they got home
He told her no matter how many dimes she used that he’d always give her more
And though the cost of calls increased and emergencies grew with her
His love would stay the same
----
Well years passed, life went on, and she raised a son
And eighteen year old Bradley was with his friends out having fun
When the driver of an SUV swerved across the line
She used another red dime

Chorus 2
This is an emergency daddy
I feel empty and I simply cannot bear the pain
I sure need you daddy
I have no one else to turn to; will you come help me pray
And he came running to her side
‘Cause of a little red dime

Bridge
Now she’s kneeling here at the altar as the church bell rings
Holding hands with her daddy; they’re here ‘cause Bradley’s suffering
They say he could pass at any time.
And so she’s laying down her little red dime

Chorus 3
This is an emergency Jesus
My heart’s broken and I’m hoping you won’t take him home
Lord we still need Bradley
We have no one else to turn to but you alone
Jesus be there by his side
Here’s my little red dime

Celery :sad: That was so sweet of Ben. It made me think who I could call. Not much choice. Everyone is so far away. Even Clem!

Maybe you should stop looking at Eharmony and look closer to home? Just sayin'....

I finally finished my taxes. I used a free service online called taxact.com. It keeps a running total of your refund/(owe) in the upper right hand corner. We held steady at owing $1,113 this year, until this nifty new deduction for real estate taxes this year. Not the old itemized tax kind. $962 in real estate taxed paid cut us down by $240 owed, to $873. I did not even see that on the tax from (paper kind), but DH found it in a news letter.

Still, dang, loosing DD as a deduction sure hurt!
At least it's done and I got DH off my back about it. We are NOT mailing it till April 15, though.

DS bought an entire living room set out in CA.sofa, loveseat, chair, tables, lamps. I have yet to see pics. First full set of furniture he got.

Lexi, great to have you back
Now if only Wendy would check in on occasion!

I wanted to get an oil change today, I am way past due, but not gonna happen today after all the tax stuff

Work clothes are in the washer and need to be dried and hung up, and some dinner needs to be eaten, and perhaps there is a chance of a nap in my near future. And I really need to do a bit of work for forecast next week with the new accelerated schedule.

Cel - Cool story! I have gotten red quarters before and never knew about that song.

Marita - Sounds like your son's really getting settled in!

And, lastly, just to tweak Twink ;) (try saying that five times fast): GO HEELS!!!

I am debating wether to have a hot fudge sundea or a nap first. My plan to do work went nowhere. I am leaning towards a nap.

wow, not a single post since 7:30? Hope everyone is ok and the northen part of the US didnt sink under the sea.

well, we~all are back! from the big city, new york..nude york,

..it isn't disney world..buttie, pretty darn close. surprisely... i couldn't
find..no one to "practice"..my psych skills..[ not like the magic or
wonder. ]

and for all the ladies + utahm,....we did ran into..that crazy puncho....

..the "naked cowboy"..., i tried..to be neighbor-"lee", by jeans,

..& off my pants..but my lil' cutie, wouldn't have none of it...not
just because..there were a pretty large crowd..of young women

..loitering around...buttie,i think..from all the things..they were saying

... & all the room~keys they were throwing...:rolleyes1.

you kno...we 're only there for the day.....& it was our first time..,
still..i can't believe, all the stuff...we got into?

now, from my curent legal encounters..working with getting this
crazy..dude..in his proper place....it's becoming very self evident, how

terrible our legal/court system....is. no wonder, there is so many
that kills...it's shameful, how greedy, incompent., & just plain
ignorant..those we trust to do their jobs...letting dangerous persons
...free to attack..the innocence. sad beyond words. :scared1:

c'mom...we can do better , means we should be?!

...call me crazy...buti know....reality , is something that was true
yesterday, as it today..that wil be true...in the future.

..so we have...a new teacher? ..it takes..someone very brave to
...teach, what others need instead of what they want.

you know darwin?..what makes man think?...he can trump, something
he never invented.. that it is, part of the system,( makes it common
sense)...that it will never be greater than the force...who created
the "whole"...program.

* why..i am such..a disney fan?..it is one of the last tutoring, presenting
the values..of doing things right..& family. [ even sometimes..it falter
from majority opinions, $$$.

one shouldn't have to test..every lil' mistake..especially , when all
one has to do..is learn from those so willing ..and those...that reaps
significiantly losses.

finally..we're just getting our...videos from disneyland..& the pc cruise..
onto..the computer....pretty darn good & fun stuff...now if i can ever
get 'um together, :scared:

..i know, i know.....all you gals...are dying to see...are the ones with

the naked cowboy, princess:

Well it DID wind up snowing over in these parts, but at least it waited to stick after we got home from running some errands.

Did like leaving the house in 45 degree weather and arriving home in 32 degree weather with snow.

DH has been sick. Fever, chills, chest cold kinda thing. Was in bed ALL day yesterday. That's all I got to say (that's nice) about that.

We are now all sick too.........

Lots to do! Have a great day. Baby is doing the mommy you better pick me up dance and hitting me.......gotta run.

Spring Break is over. And now I miss the rugrats. I'm such a dork!!!!

How is everybody? Should I read all the way back or can you guys gimme a synopsis?

Yep, the Cards lost. :-( I should have picked with my head and not my heart. If I had gone with my head it would have been the Huskies or the Tar Heels. Oh well. As the great Tony Dungy says "It's just football" (but insert basketball for football) Everybody confused? Then my work here is done.

Moo -- hope your day back isn't to straining.

Marita-- Since you son is buying furniture there does that mean he is there for awhile?

Mony-- sorry about the sick bug and the snow.

So far we have no snow but it is cold enough out there to get some, looks like rain but I am sure it will be snow too. This after we had a beautiful weekend of mild weather. What a tease.

I spend the some of the day downstairs with hubby. What a job. Running out of room to put stuff. I was crazy to think it would all fit in my living room so we didn't have to pay storage. I have also come to the conclusion that I would not want to move any time soon, to much crap. I need that guy from Clean Sweep!

Brother in law is coming on Wed. to see if he can start doing the basement so I better get my butt moving again. The main room can be done no but the laundry room and other storage/ junk room is not. I want this room to become a computer room.

Tim's CT picked up something on his Kidney. Goes tomorrow AM for an MRI.

Here we go again......................

I'm am just blank. Sorry.

Hugs for you Monica!!:hug::hug::hug: I'll pray that it was just a "blip" on the radar screen. Y'all have been through so much this past year.

Oh, and your HGTV fireplace redo was FABULOUS!!! Great decorating skillz!! :goodvibes
